jeffkaz
Howdy all, been looking all over for answers here: AM keeps locking up (after working seemlessly for 6 months) and goes into an ultra, ultra slow motion mode (one click in any direction or 1 degree of zoom takes like 15 - 30 seconds) I watch the CPU use and it zooms to 100 % with any little command, so somethings wrong Make a long story short, I un-installed, re-installed twice now. I try to open the program and i instantly get a "missing KSPI32.DLL" pop up (with the big Windows "doink" sound) I've seen a couple posts about install / reinstall about using the "regedit" function -- I have no clue what that is. And I'm a little scared to find out since the computer AM runs on is so very vital to my other daily operations (Some day I'll have a dedicated machine) Thanks for any insight! Warmly, Jeff Kasbohm www.youcandraw.com
jeffkaz
Oops - guess I forgot to pinpoint the question :-) Sorry... the question: 1) does this "missing KSPI32.DLL" messge mean anything to anyone? And (2) the "regedit" function: any quick way to access that? Need to open DOS mode? Thaks again!! -jeff http://www.youcandraw.com
WillP
Guessing from your post you are running an older 2005 version. This installer will get you the missing .dll http://ww.hash.com/ftp/pub/updates/windows.../2005-patch.exe Make sure you are actually running the latest version for your CD. jeffkaz
Thanks for the link Will - I'm getting to work on it right now :-) -jeff Guessing from your post you are running an older 2005 version. This installer will get you the missing .dll http://ww.hash.com/ftp/pub/updates/windows.../2005-patch.exe Make sure you are actually running the latest version for your CD. Hey, it opened the program.... And it actually worked great for about 15 seconds. But the sdme old vapor lock stuff started up again. Very frustrating. It's got to be some conflict with something else I got on this machine. BTW it's version 11.1. I see all sorts of other patches there - like "cleaner"? What might that do? Thanks again ya'll for your help and / or insights :-) Warmly, Jeff
KenH
Here's how to re-install: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3378 For regedit, you just type it into Start>run on the left of the windows bar at the bottom of the screen. Then you get a new window to edit the registry as per the link.....carefully of course.

Tralfaz
If you are unsure of using Regedit, you may want to export your registry settings before actually changin them. That way, if you kind of mess things up in the registry, you can import your original settings. NOTE: Making changes to the registry can sometimes lead to disastrous results. If you are inexperienced or unsure of what you are doing, you should leave this to someone more experienced. I have exported my registry numerous times, but have been fortunate enough to never had to import the settings again. Use the instructions below at your own risk. I cannot assume any responsibility for their accuracy or how they are interpretted or used. That being said, open regedit. Make sure that "My Computer" is highlighted at the top of the registry tree in the left hand view pane. You can then click on File -> Export to display the "Export Registry File" window. Enter a file name and click on the Save button. Close regedit. You can now go ahead and make any changes you need to in the registry. If you need to restore your original registry settings, then open regedit again. Make sure that "My Computer" is highlighted at the top of the registry tree in the left hand view pane. You can then click on File -> Import to display the Import Registry File" window. Locate your saved registry file and click on the Open button. Close regedit. Hope this helps and good luck...
