"Paste Mirrored" will not work...

"Paste Mirrored" will not work for me. I ask myself: 'How can you screw up a simple Copy & Paste command?' Yet everytime I do, the legs contort like in the lower panel. Usually they're worse. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks.

damn i thought we did this already...

 

first make sure the "left" and "right" bones in your model are absolutely symmetrical and that spine bones are at exact center. (x=0)
