rbjohnsn Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I just spent alot for upgraded hardware and the rendering time is mush slower. My old system of a 1.7g CPU and 1gbite of ram will render a section of my model in 2 sec. The new computer which supports a 2.9 ghz CPU and 2 Gbite of ram takes 2 minutes for the same selection. The old computer is using a GForce 5500 AGP board and the new computer has a ATI 600 board. WHAT did I do wrong? Quote
luckbat Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 You may have been rendering with different settings. Having multipass turned on, or radiosity, or reflections, or a number of other settings can slow a render substantially. If you're just doing test renders, try selecting the "Preview" render setting. I was under the impression I had the latest driver from hp for the Video card. NOT soooo. There is still some dought as to what the current one is, but installing a later one which had a date in Feb 2006 things run faster. After checking what the file info was after the install it show a date back in 2005, so whi knows whats going on. It is impossible to keep up with all the changes. Software engineers now say "oh well, release it, the users will find the bugs". It would be nice to know what plateform Hash uses in the design of thier program. Quote
