Exercise: Exercise 7 - Can You Say That?
Date Completed: 21st Oct 2006
Things learned:
1. Sometimes it's better just to trash and start over again (and again...).
2. If you press the '1' key in the channels curve editor, you can move the key frame sideways - oh joy!
A:M is just fantastic.

3d ArtZ Website (Mike FitzGerald(?)) has a free .tga to QT .mov conversion program, called Image2Movie.
I like rendering to tga to experiment with filters etc in Photoshop, then joining them together.
There's a pencil animation program with a free option - Plastic Animation - where you can sketch an animation, then output to tga, blend with a background in Photoshop, then use Mike's program to put it together.

Hi, Al - I haven't done that exercise yet, but could the straight-edged tyres be due to the 'Page Up' thing (I don't know what it's called)? If you press the Page Up & Page Down keys, then you get more or less detail in real-time rendering, ie. straight lines become rendered as curves if you press Page Up.

Thanks, Ken, Dhar.
I showed my son my rabbit walk, and he said "How long?!?!?"
Good idea to raise my monitor - 20 mins just goes by too fast.

Plain vanilla Rabbit walk. Thanks to luckbat for this great explanation of the Z translate curve to stop slippage:

Exercise: Exercise 4 - It's A Pitch
Date Completed: 27th Sept 2006
I think the main thing I learned here is that "animation is hard".
Does anyone else get Animator's Neck?

Thank you, JohnnyB - I thought I had downloaded that one, but it must have been after I started, and I failed to get the correct knight in the actual project, although it did look OK when I ran it in the choreography. It does look much smoother now.

Exercise: Exercise 2 - Chorus Line
Date Completed: 24th Sept 2006
Remarks: Played around with lighting, but I realised that needs a whole new lifetime, so I'll hold off on that for a while. Also, in the movie, my knight has a rather effeminate skip in his cancan, which the other two do not, but he does not do that in the project. Perhaps it is the compression (Sorenson Video 3).

Hi - I'm Caroline, about to start work on TaoAM.
I'm from Cornwall, UK, originally, but have landed upside down in Queensland, Australia (heat, venomous snakes, poisonous spiders.... love it).
I've decided to learn CG to keep one step ahead of my son, who thinks I'm past it because I'm just not interested in remotely shutting down his sister's computer for a joke.
Having obsessively printed out everything on the internet, I am really impressed by A:M resources, and am looking forward to striking a pose.
