  1. okay so here is my attempt to combine sprites and streaks. im trying to not to just steal your streaks mat. which look so good and create my own but im having a hard time getting the control and look you have. i like the way my sprites kind of finish it off. i guess all i can do i just keep pulling your version apart until i reach your expertise on streaks but its a little rough. here is what i have so far. please give comments. thanks firework_test3.mov
  2. okay so i got it to trail better on the launch. the explosion is my only problem. which parameter in the materiel will allow it to die out? i tried opacity but that seem to only work for the trail. i would like it to slowly die out. i would think it would be life but that seem not an adjustable key frame. i could do it in the chor but would rather it be built into the material. firework_test2.mov
  3. You can keyframe the Opacity property of the Sprite System>Sprite Emitter to go from 0 to 100 over time. yes but is this done in chor? or the material itself? ive been trying to figure this it out....
  4. yes i agree with all that you said. how do i go about fading the rocket trail. is there a setting in the material or should i do it with a chor transparency move?
  5. need some opinions. this is a first test here on a fireworks display. i have tons more images to use for sprites but just started with this simple one. any suggestions? firework_test1.mov
  6. were you or are now using sprites or streaks? im on ver 15.0g it seems that sprites work but im having a hard time getting them took look right. i love the streaks flame but they just dont seem to show through a model, transparent or not. it would be nice to have a generic flame material....
  7. here is one that works with the sprite emitter. although it looks like i could melt steel with it i will have to work on some parameters. lol
  8. yes your sprite emitter works. i think its because im using streaks not sprites...
  9. i did not change the refraction. you can only change the values from 1 to 2 or anything between. made no difference. im going to try another method.
  10. could not seem to find the sprite transparency additive. but i took another tut and added a simple dbl sided transparent model and my candle model. the simple tranparent model is fine and you can see the flames through it. but my candle model just reflects the flame and you cannot see through it.
  11. so im using the flame sprites that i grabbed from the tuts extra cd for a candle flame. the problem i found is that for some reason the candles glass container seems to block the bottom of the flame. i should be able to see the flame through the transparent glass. must be some parameter setting i missed?

  13. okay i found 15.0g. anyone else have library issues in 15.0h?
  14. so i went back to 15.0f and it seems to be fine now. it holds the library settings. i cant find 15.0g anyone have it?
  15. so in my rush to fix my shade wire issue i went and did a complete install of 15.0h....i wish i waited and saw your later replies about 15.0i. never the less i did the install and ive noticed that i cant modify and or add libraries. ill do the usual folders tab scroll to lib. and add new. click through to my extras dvd data / library. the path is all there and i restart AM and its gone as if i never added it. anyone else get this?
  16. would it be a good idea to add dynamic constraint to the last bone on the sled? maybe to give it a little sliding realism?

  18. so i have a model of a horse and a sled. i want the sled to be connected or follow behind the horse as if the horse was pulling it. ive put a bone on the yoke and a bone for the sled. the sled seed to be find on its own as far bending and turning. i tried to constraint the yoke to the horse but the yoke separates on the path and sticks with the horse leaving the sled behind. i can constraint the whole sled with the horse but it seem a bit stiff as the horse turns on the path. any ideas on how to use the constraints to look more life like?
  19. is there an updated version? i found one from 2001 on the ftp site but wanted to know if anyone had one more recent.
  20. it appears that i may have fixed it. thanks for helping me out again... it seems that it was a combination of 2 things. the small colored disks that had glow applied and the light bones. i needed to keep the glow affect as the client really wanted it. i modified the disks a little. this helped on some frames but others were still showing up black dots. i decided to look at the bone lights and found that the back of the light was sticking out of the space ship. i sunk them in and did a quick test. it seems to be okay. im rendering them out and will post the results tonight. thanks again everyone.
  21. so im still having this weird thing with black dot appearing. ive tried everything. any one here ever see this before? attention_256K_Stream.mov
  22. multi-pass divides each pixel into x parts and renders each one separately, the adds all x passes together at the end. The more passes you set it to do the longer it will take. multipass is usually unnecessary. The anti-aliasing in regular render is about the same as 16-pass multipass. some effects like accurate motion blur and shadow jitter need multipass. But usually you can use regular render for faster results. thank you. that makes it all clear. im doing HDTV exports now and they seem to be clear of all issues. they look great and are exporting faster than ever. i just turned off the multipass as for what im doing its not needed. this is something that has been a problem for my renders on this project. thanks for setting me on the right path....all is well
