  1. I apologize if this is an odd question -- however, why not do a final render out of A:M itself? This will save your image as TARGA file which is far better then a JPG. Any reason why it has to be a screen capture?

  2. I may be wrong, but the downloadable option pertains to software purchases, like WeightMover or TSM. If you were to download the contents of two CD's...yikes! Even with a cable connection -- your talking a very long wait! ;)

Also, Steve have you received my email regarding my purchase? Slight confusion for billing/shipping. Sorry...:(

    Thanks,

  3. Hi, John:

As always, these characters are fantastic! They have such zeal and whimsy about them. Simply modeled but well crafted. No easy feat. As you can tell, I really like your work. Also, I purchased SkyCast...a must buy! In the near future I hope to have some scenes to post. Just been so overwhelmed with work and family... :P

    Keep posting John.

  4. What's up D-Bo! :D I really like him. I agree with Shaun, I would add some mass to his torso to give him more "weight". I like the blue hair, too. Have you thought of trying a receding hairline? Also, does he have long hair in the back? Any chance of seeing a close up of his face? The nose looks really good...can't wait for more.

  5. Very nice scene you have developing. I like the design of the house...is it for sale? :)

I would give hair emmiters a shot. It may offer you more flexibility. Have you thought of adding a small hill in the left rear of the image to give it a more "rolling" look? Are you planning to add water to the fountain, too? All in all, very nice and can't wait to see your progress.

  6. As with A:M, you do have to upgrade NetRender every year. I have been using NetRender for the past three years - it works amazingly well and the price is more than reasonable. I highly reccommend it. :D

  7. Odd...for some reason my reply did not post. I apologize if this is a duplicate post.

You are right, if you use a Mac for the server, you lose it as an option to render. However, I am unsure as to how this may change under OSX, if at all.

I do agree, if you can get a low cost PC as the server, and then have either a Mac or PC as slaves...;)

  8. My $.02... :D

I have had the opportunity to use several polygonal programs. None, in my opinion, have the pure power and simplicity of A:M. Too often this simplicity is derided as being childish. I beg to differ. I believe the program should not be a hinderance to the artist, but allow the artist to create. A:M's interface is elegant in it's design. All the tools are within easy access - no more digging and plowing to find any given tool. For me, A:M has a true organic modeling paradigm which mimics drawing by the artist. Each aspect of A:M, be it modeling, rendering, decals, materials etc...all are intuitive and logical. Animation in A:M, again, is simple but incredibly powerful. The creation of a boning system, and applying this system, is again, intuitive and elegant. Character animation in A:M would be that of a puppeteer and marionettes. You simply pull, push, squash and you character reacts the way it should. Their is no limitation as to how you can animate in A:M. Beyond the program itself, the technical support staff is exceptional. Be it a telephone call or email. Any problem will be treated professionally and timely. The community supporting A:M is second to none. The user base is friendly, supportive and a great resource to learn from. Very rare to have a support staff and community that work hand in hand to ensure the success a great program! A:M...it simply works powerfully!

  9. I like your modeling approach as far as outlining the form first. Very much like art school and defining mass. Hey, maybe I do know some stuff! :D Comics...gotta love them. Too bad they have changed soooo much. Hey, that's a topic for another day. ;)

  10. What version are you using? Have you tried going to Help>Reset Settings? This will default to the A:M standard "look". Also, try using shortcut keys. This will make your life, and modeling, much faster and easier! :) For add Lock it is simply the (A) key for laying multiple splines. For a single cp shift(A).

    Hope this helps.
