I don't know if A:M can actually ignore the render from frame 00:00:00 to 00:00:00. Thats all you need if you want a still.
If you are having a hard time, turn off the advanced option and do as follows;
-click final
-change frame from 00:00:00 to 00:00:00
-choose where you want the file to go, and before you click okay, click the drow down and choose TGA
-the click okay to render it to file.
If you are doing an animation and render it out to TGA, then there are going to be a lot of TGA files, that you can open as sequence in Quick time.

It came with my '06 Yeti CD, after the giraffe exercise. I have been trying this one from the day I got A:M, but it seems easier comming out of the book.

Good start. Just keep laying out splines. You're not going to get it on the first try but with a tweak here and there, it will soon start to shape up.
For the normals facing the wrong way, it's not really a problem (most of the TWO models are the same right now) but you can select the patches and press F to flip them the right way.
You look to have problems where the eye joins the nose. Take a close look at how that's done in the Face tutorial...
PS You mean you deleted your Oil Lamp, mirror, chair etc?!?!
Well, you should notice that I followed the book more closely this time. If you didn't notice, after I read you post, I started completely over. To a much greater achievement, by my standards.
Anyways, here is what it looks like now.

Here are the rotoscopes I am working off of, but I cant really just rely on them.
For one they are two different sizes, and I don't think Mike Judge drew them the same everytime. So, I am just using it for reference more than anything.
[attachmentid=12939][attachmentid=12940]
By the way, I never knew how much easier it was to work with two windows open in the two views you use the most. It seemed to make me 100% more proficient at making models, and faster as well.
Okay, so the nose is not exactly as it is in the drawing, but I tried four or five different styles, and final settled on the one that is above.
Crits, advice, erase..............

Okay, I am this far on this tutorial. I have tried this tutorial a number of times since I first received A:M v11.1.

Anywho, my question is this. I am about to start adding splines around the brow and cheeks, as it sais in the book, but do I do this like it was done in the Plane tutorial????
Or do I just click add, and just start from an exsisting CP.
Thanks

Ummmm....Yeah, but not worry, I just remebered that when I reformatted my computer, I put all that stuff on disks, so my little attitude problem, stupid as it may have been, didn't mess me up as bad as I thought.
Yes, the eye joining the nose always gives me trouble, same as the lips, joining at the corners, but I will just keep tweeking as you said. Thanks for the reply.

Well, I know that I start on a lot of models, post them in here, get help when needed, and then abandon making, much less thinking about finish them.
Recently I got so upset that I erased all my files, models in the works, all the hopefuls I did for two, all my ABC, and TAoA:M. Yeah, that was stupid.
Anyways, I started to do this model, after about a week break from A:M. I am working off of two different size rotoscopes, not a big problem, but I need help with this oddly shaped human head.
To reassure you, I am not going to abandon this model because I get frustrated, I am going to finish the head, nice and smooth, or ugly and jagged.
I need some help, I think I have a good start, but need some pointers in closing the nose, odd shaped.
Also, when I turned on my normals, shift+1, they were all facing inward, the wrong way. I can fix this, but it will take time.
Anyways, all the help I can get will be appreciated, I am trying to follow the Freeman face in the TAoA:M 2006 book, but because they are so different I am having a little problem.
So please help me.
Here are a few pictures of what I have so far.

Every time you make a new post, or reply, you can put 1mb in there. It can also upload zip files if you have compressed it to under 1mb.
If you want to put say four different files, each 650kb or so in one post, you would have to do the following.
-Reply
-type your thing, then attache the first file, and click add into post. submit post
-click reply, to the post you just did, don't type anything just upload the next file and click add into post and click submit post. this will put that file in with your last post since you didn't type anything. I think you can do this up to six files, or that is all it let me do.
But you cant post .tga .mdl .prj or stuff like that, if you want to put those, you have to put them in a zip file.
-
well, there are several things that could cause this.
-wrong file type.
-over 1mb
Okay, i guess only two
when you the loading screen is over what does it say at the top of the page?

I have to say that I love messing with this Mufoof stuff. But why I am here is this. I did the example about the room, and came away with favorable results, except for having my floor to reflective.[attachmentid=12646]
Then I went ahead and tried the 'Spiral' sun light thing, and ended up with a dreadfull picture.
[attachmentid=12647]
Can you tell me if it is because I have a top on the bus stop, or did I not follow instructions correctly??
Thanks

I am still trying to get the handle on the timing in action and chor., so I made another simple animation.
I am really impressed with how much the Sorensen 3 with no key frames can compress this stuff.

I had a dream a while back that SIGGRAPH was coming to Boston. And it came true!
Sorry James, maybe next year. I hear you guys have it pretty nice in Hawaii anyway.
Great idea about having a Demo Ken, it would be much more effective then just showing stills of TWO.
This is kind of off topic for this topic, but just wanted to say something.
There is so much talent here, in ways of art, that could use a program like animation master. The problem is that when they go to school to lear CG, they are stuck with Maya. I was acctually thinking about getting a vinal of the A:M logo and putting in on the hood of my car to get the word out to the talent in hawaii.
Sorry to interupt.
-
This might sound wierd, but I had a dream that the '06 Siggraph was at the Blasedale Collosium in Hawaii.
I would like to see that kind of thing too. That reminds me, I have to buy the '05 Siggraph video.

My friend wanted a new cowboys t-shirt, but he didn't want to pay a lot for it,
so he asked me to model him something with Dallas Cowboy stuff on it.
So he could take it to the mall and iron it on a t-shirt.
Here is the final.

Here is the test render to see what I had.
[attachmentid=12501]
And here is the picture that it was modeled after. (I couldn't get the gloss look in my model)

EDIT: Disregard this post, I don't know what happened, but I was working on the torso with everything else hidden, got it the way I wanted it, then saved, then unhid, and somehow all the cp's on the face were in different locations, it didn't even look like a shape anymore, tried to revert, no dice, tried to undo, no dice, so now it is off to a new model.
I started working on this head yesterday, and have this so far.
[attachmentid=12462]
I still have to do some tweeking, and smoothing, which brings me to what I need help with.
I placed the porcelain mat onto my model in PW window, and it smoothed it out very well.
However, when I render from a certain side, this happens.
[attachmentid=12463]
I have marked with red what I am talking about. It seams to show every spline like a shadow.
Is there anything that could be done to remove this.
I also don't know how hair got inside the head, as you can see throughout the opening where the mouth will be.
Thanks for the help.

yeah I guess I c ould try that, I always try to skip the deleting half the circle before you lathe step. Well, got to pull out the old lap top and boot A:M
-
Wel, I sent a report into the report thing. but this is what is happening
1 I make a 2 point spline
2 lathe it, and delete the top cps to get a circle
3 click a point, hit the / key press r and use the axis manipulator to lathe a circle, lookes good so far
4 select all points, and hit the p key to peak
5 select one of the cps, and move it, but there are still splines where there shouldn't be one,
I think it is the peak command that is making it duplicate, because it make like 4 of the shape on top of each other, but all the cps are connected and it is drivning me crazy, because I cant cut wholes in it to make the eyes and mouth, without going throu every spline and deleting all its invisible ones, or the ones the peak made and I cant see
Thats about it.

Thanks James:
A little support goes a long way when your eyes are ready to fall out due to major tweakin
Nah, didn't sound bad at all
Yeah, I think since I've been using this forum I have been supporting your models, besides you helped me when I was still a newbie, thou I still am, I have to be supportive.
-
Well, I had an idea while I was out supporting the tabaco industry at work today. It was to make a short film of models made up with primitive shapes. I don't know if 3d shapes are primitive, but that is what i am doing, basic shapes, and such.
So far I have done...........Arnold Squarezeneger.........
[attachmentid=12366]
I have started on Vin Diamond, as you can tell under the objects in the project work space, and still have to do Brooke Spheres, and rig of course, and I guess it would be good if I came up with a story line, and a script, and probably a setting for the script that I have not come up with yet, or the story line...........
And man I have to get something to record voices
And a program to make the voices sound different
Oh man, this is going to take me forever
Okay......relax.....you are just typing......10...9...8....
-
Man, that was FREAKY
Very nice however.

Eric: "Got to get this perfect"...tweek, move, pull, tweek....look...render....tweek..pull......coffee
Scotty: "Your giving it all you've got Eric, She can't take much more!!"
You are doing great, I guess my impression didn't sound good on paper, it sounded good in my head.
Nah really, she is looking hot....
Hmmm...I have some training to do to keep up with you
Can't render a TGA

If the program is just completely ignoring the commands of just rendering one frame, is sounds like something that you would need to submit to A:M Reports.
When you do, make sure that you send in the version, what picture is on the CD, what your system information is, and steps to recreate what is happening, it will speed the process if you send in all at once.
Only other thing I can think is if you are trying to use multi pass, but I don't know if that is the case.
Maybe you should uninstall and do a clean reinstall, if it installed incorrectly.
