  1. You make AM look so good.

My hat is off to you.

You have made some incredible models over the years. You excel at having a greta presentation meaning you dont just model you add materials and textures and surface settings that complete the high dollar look. We don't have to imagine the potential its right there.

Any chance you can contribute some of the models you have made over the years for study. I remember a spider man 2nd to none and an alien showing the power of AM's SSS abilities and your avatar the Antichrist all are masterpieces.

I bet if you posted them some people would use them in animations which would complete bringing them to life.

  2. 1:35

    Who is faster :P

    i7-4770

    32gb memory

    gtx660

V18 alpha3 (but the speed hit is coming from the cpu , not from the version , with V17g nearly the same time)

Your I7 beat my Xeon 3.5GHZ mac pro. I thought Xeons were much faster than any I7. Guess I was wrong.

  3. Well very disappointed.

I updated my computer with the new Mac pro 6 core xeon 12 with hyper threading 3.5GHZ

    16GB ram

    2 D500 AMD GPUs

    500GB PCIE SSD Drive

    Results

    On osx version 18f 2:28

    Windows 8.1

2:18 for the teapot bench test.

I was expecting more like 30 seconds.

  4. I am a mac guy. I use net render with 40 cores but not on the mac boot. I dual boot into windows with bootcamp. Mac is only 32 bit for AM. No good for intense projects that require more than 2 gigs of ram.

  5. Thats a great start and I would like to see at least more catus and with spikes modeled in for close ups.

    Desertplants

See attached pictures of what im looking for.

I would like to create a nice 3D desert scene

  6. OK

Provide me with some desert models like the elements in the desert tango video.

    cacti a few different types

    rocks small, large bolder

    tumble weed

    weed

    balloon dog

    desert cactus flower

no need for texturing, decaling, or messing with surface properties. Just models

    Rules

Make sure your normals are facing the right direction. If you are not sure what I am talking about watch a tutorial or ask someone. Its important.

Make the models, modeled as detailed as the ones in the video.

    I will do the rest.

I will also give a comparison between radiosity, and image based lighting and show with and without SSS aka sub surface scattering on the cactus

Do your part and ill do mine.

The result will be a new default choreography for us to put models in to present them.

Its all about the presentation. AKA Rendering. A good rendering can make something, animated well look even better. Or a simple model look great.

  7. The beauty of the vid tutorial is a master like you will never have to remember it again. I often look at my AM vid tutorials. Its strange because Its like listening to a future knowledgeable time traveling self.

Only hes from the passed and I cant remember even making the video tutorial.
