I saw that system at a computer show here in Denver. I was majorly impressed

!! Almost bought it. It was very thin, the 3D aquarium demo looked so real,

the speed seemed very good. The only reason I didn't get it is I could not

justify having that and my new almost-dream system. The only down side I

could see is the 17 inch display. I don't think it will fit well when

traveling in any but First Class.

I'm assuming you have A:M 10.5(something) and are running some flavor of

    Windows.

I've done this with image sequences. It should work the same with a video.

After you add the new rotoscope to your Kleig, click on the triangle to the

right of the rotoscope icon in the Chor PWS to show the rotoscope's

properties. I've been told that this triangle is called a "disclosure

triangle" so that's what I'm gonna call it. In the rotoscope properties

panel you should see "Translate", "Scale", "Image", "View", "Transparency",

and "Include in Alpha Buffer". Click on the disclosure triangle for "Image"

to display the Image properties. You should see "Repeat", "Seamless", and

"Frame". At frame 0 in your Chor, enter 0 where it says "Frame". One frame

before where you want the rotoscope to start playing, enter 0 for "frame".

The rotoscope movie should start playing on the correct frame now.

I am applying a(video) as a rotoscope to a klieg light; projecting the

video as a film on the wall.

Can I control when the rotoscope begins? By the time my character looks at

the screen in this choreography the projected video is half over.

    Thanks

You know, I've had this thought before. I don't care to store up extra versions

(even on CD). Be nice to know the key versions to keep.

That said, the Newest Version is so very cool. Not sure why I would want to go

back to the older versions. Compatibility?

    Hi all,

Just wondering if there is an archive site, with review or

recommendations on the best version of AM for production - ie

    stability and speed...

I have heard that version 8.5p++ is okay (but where do I find it?)...

And it would be nice to have a "preferred" version for each

year... Or is it just every year the very last build is the

best... But again where do I find this build...?

    Regards,

    Hi all,

Was watching the bonus DVDs that come with The Lord of The Rings: The Two

Towers, last night. They have an awesome section on Gollum on the first

    bonus disk.

Also saw a discussion on rendering speeds the other day. Apparently some of

the shots of TreeBeard (the walking tree) took up to 48 hours per frame to

    render !

So she can't be as active as a male Starbuck? Hm... no comment. To

tell the truth, I'd wait until the thing actually comes out before passing

final judgement. Andromeda Strain-The Movie changed the gender of one of

the character, it actually worked even better than the book, good for some

remarks that worked better with the character as a grouchy woman than a

    grouchy guy.

StarWars, based as it is in architypical stereotypes could be remade with

Solo as a woman, although of course the love interest would then be Luke,

not Leia. How is this a problem?

Not sure what you mean by that--do you mean IK? It has that. If you mean

lock a hand to an external object, put your arm in IK and just use Translate

To and Orient Like constraints in Compensate Mode for that. If you mean keep

limbs locked in place when switching from FK to IK and back, we don't have a

solution for that given A:M's current implementations of constraints and

expressions (maybe we'll figure something out for v2).

Rodger.. what a good idea = > Build a small segment of half the fuselage and

I think it will be quicker than the way I've started .... done half the

fuselage and started to model windows by windows and fit each window into

the fuselage... but because the windows got more spline than the fuselage ..

I have to add more spline also to the fuselage .. it' a "never ending

    or a bad approach.....!

Remember, Gene Roddenberry's original Number One was a Woman (Majel) ... and the

network insisted that they turn her into a Man. They said at the time, no one

would believe a woman could run a Starship. Roddenberry was furious.

But they also wanted to get rid of the guy with the pointed ears (Spock), who

looked too devilish for the Network execs. So Roddenberry married Majel and

kept Spock. He often laughed saying that it would not have worked any other

    way.

Years later, Janeway proved that a woman could run a Starship (Voyager).

Yeah, yeah, I know ... a Trekker at heart.

Probably the best place to start is the Hash web site and download the video

tutorials. I'm not sure what you mean by "create their own cartoon" If you

mean how do you create your own cartoon character, I would start with the

modeling video tutorials, tutorials in the book and when you have learned

the basics, the tutorials on the ARM site (links from the Hash site). If

you mean how does one make a cartoon motion picture, start with the

    animation tutorials.

Animation Master outputs in the AVI and MOV video format and TGA photo

format. You will eventually want to get a video editing program (Pinnacle,

Adobe Premiere, Vegas Video, Ulead) to assemble any of these three formats

into more complex movies. AM will add sound to AVI and MOV videos and

most of the video editors do a good job of sound editing as well.

Good luck, the learning curve is steep but worth it.

    Hello everone.

We have some really nice weather here in Texas today. Cool breeze, lots of sun, and some really neat looking clouds up there.

Which got me to thinking. I'm sure as artist, you can all appreciate those Thunderhead clouds which rise up for miles and miles above you. They almost seem to be like floating skyscrapers.

Call me nerd or whatever, but I love to look at these things for hours. They almost seem to be alive as they twist and turn .

So,,, how would someone create one of these Thunderheads in A:M ? I know you could just use a flat card and map an image to it, but I.m talking about a true 3D cloud that you could use in an animation.

I think particles would be too uncontrollable for the details. The only thing that I can think of is a great big blob of patches, shaped to look like the cloud . A displacement map could then be used for the details .

But how would you do it guys and gals ?

On another subject interesting to me .... trees. A while back I remember there was some talk about creating leaves for trees using particles. Surely someone has done something similar to this using sprites ...right ?

If anyone has done anything similar to what I have just asked about, I for one would be very interested in your results.

To All that Rendering in any program, From experience, I was at Disney and

remember that they have a mass of computer hooked together, well for a 30 second

commercial, would take all most 24 hours to render, and even they had crashes

at the end of the rendering. What I`m hearing is common in rendering any

where. You only have one computer hooked up for processing, I`m guessing yes. So

guys and Gal your real answer here is more computer the faster rendering time

is, but what I can tell you, with using one workstation and the time that it

takes are not bad at all. And A.M. is looking great for rendering time. Check

out other Animation film and find out how long it took to render and you find

out, It`s part of the process of animating.

    Thanks Elena & gra4mac

Yes I would like to be able to be close.

I think I'd love to use .. decals & bump maps but I know I will have more

options .. like looking though the windows ... if I build each window.

So I will check those tutorials. I've done it before but because I'm also

using other 3D software, I get sometimes confused with AM.

    Thanks again.

    Paul
