Awesome! Mr. Harryhausen is still one of my personal heroes, and one of the main reasons that I became interested in animation in the first place.

I see from the http://www.rafhashvideotapes.com page that it's

only available at the moment for Windows. Do you have a release

date for a Mac OS X version?

Stuart, glad to see Steve back in the real world.

It makes no difference what the scale is, only the resolution (number of pixels) you are rendering in and how much of the frame he takes up. In this case it really only matters how many pixels have to be calculated.

time artist cum programmer, is a full time member of the Animation:Master

programming team. Yves has recently worked on "Photon Mapping" and "Skin

Shading", and he has a long history of A:M plug-in authorship, SDK

organization, tutorials, and the best ever A:M webpage to help other users.

Yves initial assignment is simply to get V12 into Alpha, but he will also

continue his duties on the SDK so that plug-in authors are taken care of.

Personally, I start with the hole and work outward. In A:M, a hole is cre ated when you have a non-valid patch - that can be a patch made from one spl ine circled around on itself or a number of other ways.

As Tunesy suggested, there are a number of good tutorials to get you started available. Check out A:M Resources -> http://www.lowrestv.com/arm/ or the hash tutes, David Rogers' book or the Anzovin tutes

I've been using version 10 since February, and I just downloaded version 11 a few days ago. last night i loaded it up and started using it. I have no t used any new features, except the docking windows, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. it will save SO much screen space, and I can finally have them open big enough to be useful, WHEN I need them to be, and go away so I can SEE when I don't!

    'tis a thing of beauty!

I won't be able to work one day (whe n I get v12.) without thinking he's worked in there somewhere. A grand thoug ht to have!

EXCELLENT!!! Err. (Straightening collar and settling down) I'm thrille d to see Yves joining Hash. At age 45 I think I've used the word "brilliant " twice in my life as part of a description of someone. The second time was in reference to Yves.

Ultimately, that question falls into the category of 'what makes a render able patch'. "Holes" are not an issue with Hash patches the way they are wi th polys. Take a look at Frank Silas 'basic splinesmanship' tutorials at th e ARM. After that you might wanna take a look at Colin Freemans "Baby Face" tutorial.

If the texture is a material you won't be able to see it until you render. P ress Q and click in the window to do a quick render.

If it's a decal and you can't see it you may need to check the key colour to see if it is set to a colour in your texture image.

I think that there is a little glitch with colour properties at the momen t. You will see the colour update when you start to edit something else or y ou can close the modelling window and reopen it. Far from ideal, I know. I a m sure that it will be fixed before long but just in case, you might want to report it to support@hash.com.

Hopefully someone else knows a better work-around. :(
