  1. Hello all I use to use AM back in V6 days and updraded to V7. So been many years now since ive used AM and see your at V18. Last few years i have been dabbling in C4d just modelling but found its rigging and animation rather complex to use and i remembered the simplicity of AM. So iv just requested the trial version to see what it is like now days. If i was to upgrade to version 18 would i have to pay the full retail for the boxed version $299? Cause i remembered that when i upgraded from 6 to 7 i only paid (back in them days) $100 for the newer version so not paying full price. Once i get the trial version and have a play with that for a while, ill think about upgraging my version 7 (lol) to v18. Cheers John
  2. G'day Rodney. Long time no see, you probably dont remember me...lol well its been over a year since i played around with AM, i had been using AM, on and off since V3, the latest one i have is V12 yeti, if my memory is correct. the reason i hadnt used AM for so long i wont get into but i had gone and learnt another program which i will keep using. thought ide load up AM again and have a bash at it again, man i have to learn this all over again, thought the memorys would come flooding back to me and ide be on my way. It took me a few minutes to remember how to rotate the scene...lol im not expecting to relearn it all but just dabble ones again. One thing i did mis is the simplicity in animating in AM compared to this other program i use. oh well time to flick through the pages of TAOAM. JTB (aka John_TrueBlue)
  3. I have been away from AM for several months now. saw erics updated S7 and must say very nice mate. which led me to this wip thread and i have to say that this is the best thread i have read on any forum. I think that this should be the way to go for new users of any program, have the newbie taken under wing. Great work guys, looking foward as well to seeing the final render. JTB
  4. so whats happened to the image contest? have hash pulled the plug on it. its like half the years gone by and no word.....
  5. that would be cool. for a second there i thought you took it for a drive and crashed and burned it. as far as i can see, not many ppl model cars in AM. so looking forward to the end product.
  6. well time flys doesnt it. been 2 months since last posting, so this car should be about finnished, so whats happened? was looking forward to seeing the end product.
  7. well im underway with TAoAM V12 Yeti and reading the book and watching the videos, i have come to realize something. watching the web videos i see that in the project workspace eg: model, there is an arrow next to it that you click and the properties for this item drops down under the item. but in my Yeti v12 the properties opens up in another window like it use to be in V7 that i was using. so did they revert back to the old way or is there an option that causes the properties to pop down from the workplace items? cheers
  8. Hello Margaret welcome aboard the AM train. i too was born in Melbourne but now based in perth. just thinking that there will be some astronomical animations in the works coming from you, that would be cool. i have a interest in a astronomy too, but not to the extent that you have. if you look on my 3d page you can see that i hade made but not completed a Meade LX200 cas telescope, lost the file for it so thats all i got to show for it. (even had internal baffle ect). cannt dribble to much. and again welcome aboard.
  9. like i said, ive only dabbled in AM V3 and V7 as you can see from my site i dont have much to impress any one with. http://home.iprimus.com.au/john_trueblue/ but hoping that will change now that i have in my hands my V12 Yeti so, i guess ide better open the manual now and read till my eyes bleed
  10. DOH! ordered Yeti last thursday and it arrived at my door monday. thats good service. trouble is i missed the delivery by 15 minutes, so now ill have to wait till i get back from work tomorrow. from the U.S to Australia in 4 days (over weekend) Hash and fedex, perfect combination. here i was thinking ide have to wait till the following friday. im so itchin to get into TAoAM with my new Yeti version john
  11. hmm seem to me no one has answered your call rodney. after dabbling with V3 for several years and then V7 for another, last thursday i upgraded to Yeti. since some of the new tutorial have new features that my old versions didnt have i couldnt (well couldnt be bothered trying to work aroundthem) do them. so now im just waiting on the fedex parcel to come to me, should be some time next week. im looking forward to being able to do these new tutorial and getting my certificate at the end i will have to read the manual since there is a lot of new things in the GUI (graphic user interface) to get familiar with. the thought of being able to do hair and cloth....so cool and the added programs that i use to have to download from other sites are included in AM now EG: simbiont (how ever its spelt). started to work on BootCamp but once i get my new AM ill start from scratch. 12. congrats Dhar bet youll have many best friends knocking on your door, its like winning the lottery... have fun now i know i would, guess ill have to save my pennies and buy my upgrade. thanks rodney for giving us (me, myself, I) a chance in the raffle.
  13. yes he does indeed. its not easy talking for 40 minutes into a microphone let alone 5 minute straight, at one point ken did have trouble and choked on his own words. so yeah, he has given the AM community a great deal to think about when it comes to the history of AM/Animation. if i ever meet him, ill shout him a beer to sooth his vocals
  14. being at a friends place with broadband i downloaded all the tutorial movies and "The History of Animation (lecture)" , The Evolution of 3D (lecture). i would tell every one to download these lectures. i found them very interesting. Happy New Year to you all
