  1. Rob and David - thanks much for all the info.  I'm

not sure if mu-hair should be built in to mu AM, but it isn't; I somewhat combed through the links you two sent, but didn't see a download for the actual shader.  Do either of you have a link?  By the way, great Al Capone head Rob!

Here's an update of the head I'm working on if you're curious.  Incidentally, did anyone ever make just a face rig, and an installer?  Thanks much.

  2. Hey Rob,

What would AM do without you?  Thanks so much for the advice and the compliment!  As you can see, still not working on the guy, but rendered fine on my hairball.  I'm thinking maybe there's a bug in my project file?  I'm going to load the model into a new project and see how that goes.  Hope it's not a bug in the model.  One way or another, I'll show you how it goes.

  3. ROB - Thanks so much for the reply!  Key was in fact not sent, email links do not work and I can't access the appropriate page from my account.  Jason just wrote me, and I hope we can get it sorted out.  I have no idea what the problem might be on their part, nor on mine for that matter - frustrating, this being day 3 now.  Thanks again, and normally I think your post would have been a life-saver.

  4. Hi everyone!

Just re-purchased and can't find my serial keys, have clicked the right links, written 3 or 4 times, haven't heard a word in reply  and for the first time in 20 years I can't get anyone on the phone (I'm told it's not in service).  And I've got a job I need to do pronto.  Is there a new tick or has my memory gone to hell?  Didn't do anything weird and my computer's bug free.  Where are you Randy and Steve?

    Anyone?  Thanks much all!

  5. Greetings,

I just wiped my hard drive and have re-installed AM. When I apply a photo to a model, it appears in full resolution and slows modeling down enormously. I've never had this happen before: a decal showing in high-res in default mode. I've fiddled with the real-time render settings but that doesn't change anything. If someone knows a way to get the default resolution of decals down (pre-render or quick render), I'd very much appreciate the info. Thanks,

    Doug

Since I wrote the above several hours ago, I loaded v16, and things happen at the speed they should. It seems to be a problem with v17, at least the way it loaded on my computer.

  6. Launch an email to "jason @ hash dot com" and paste the message you typed here into the email.

Jason will then get you up and running with a new activation code (or point you to whatever else is needed).

    Will do. Thanks Rodney.

  7. Greetings,

I just had to scrub my hard drive and am having to re-install everything; could someone tell me how to re-install AM? I backed it up on an external HD, but of course the old install won't run. I've tried transfering the Master0 file to a new installation, but get a "wrong host for this license" message. Thanks much.

  8. Here is the Lady Goodbody model off the Hash CD.

    Hi,

When I try to download the model, my browser opens a new tab and displays the asci text with no window to download. Not sure if it's my browser (firefox) or some other problem. Please let me know if you know. Thanks,

    Douglas

  9. That's very interesting.

Can you tell us what sort of project that was intended for?

Hi - it was a short film I was going to do of a man telling a beautiful female robot an Irish joke in a bar. Sadly, I had all the sets and the female robot built, and then when I was transferring files to a new drive I lost most of it. I'm not sure why I chose Michael Keaton as my subject - just thought it would be funnier with his speech cadence and mannerisms.

  10. Realistic Michael Keaton head that I never got around to using. The decalling is a bit sloppy and I'm sure there are those who will complain it has too many control points. Anyway, I think I zipped it correctly and that everything (except the hair) should appear as I made it. Hope it's useful.

  11. Happy Sunday everyone. Is it still possible to import DXF models, and if so how? Also, is it possible to import other polygon based models? If not, it seems like that would be an extremely useful feature. Thanks.

Nevermind - I've figured it out. A how to bit in the techref would be nice. Sorry to have posted needlessly.

  12. It's been a while since I've done this - I have a string of tga files (0000 - 0600) and want to apply them as a moving decal. As I recall, I only have to apply the first in the series, and the rest will follow automatically. It doesn't seem to be working - the image stays frozen on the first frame. I've put a few of them in the decal folder, thinking perhaps they need to be there and not just in the images folder, but that is not working either. I made an action, wherein the object the decal is applied to moves slightly, but still no luck. I've looked for the subject in the techref manuel but can't find it. Perhaps also someone could let me know where it is in the manuel.

Also, is it possible to use an avi or other movie format as a moving decal these days? In any case, if someone could let me know what I'm doing wrong, or how to get it to move, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks,

    Douglas

Thanks again - worked like a charm.

  13. Th image sequence will work but you need to explicitly import it to be that. RMB onthe images folder>Import>Animation or Image Sequence

Once it's there you can make it take the place of your already applied decal by dragging it from the images folder down to your model>Decals folder then dropping it on the Images folder and deleting the image that was there before.

Thanks Rob. I will do it.

  15. Hi - in the am tech reference it says to turn on the “Options/Cast Shadows” under my klieg light settings but I can find no such option. I've made soft shadows but not for a couple of versions - could someone tell me what the trick is that I'm missing. Thanks.
