  1. Fab, I hope you don't mind I used your grass textures, great images. I'll plan on redoing some of the other sets with these.

Great job Mark ! Of course you can use these images. I did them with The Gimp and everybody which need some can use them.

  2. I have some difficulties to understand what you want, sorry for my bad english. ;)

If you load "Winkeeville.cho" you will see the same shot that I showed. I use many actions (landscape, trees, houses, etc...) for building the entire scene.

I hope that I answered your question.

  3. I've started the texturing of the cart and the turkey. I imagined pieces of metal attached to the wheels with rivets. This is just the beginning so tell me if I am not in the good way.

    Thanks.

  4. But before doing that, there seems to some ambiance on some models. I was playing with gamma values on this image and I noticed that the houses, bridge, terrain and background trees are much paler and les contrasty than the foreground trees.

I think that the difference of contrast between trees in foreground and the other elements come from the hair intensity. I would look at how to arrange that.

I have the impression that there are some ambiance set on those models.

However ambiance color is the same one for all the objects. But some trees layers have a different lighting in their bitmap.

  5. Thanks for your suggestions, I modified some small details.

Since the last update, I added 2 corn fields and many textures. The lighting is less yellow and I think that the river looks better. I worked on the trees alpha too.

Can I upload the modified files on SVN ?

  6. Thanks !!! :)

My only criticism would be that the water in the stream does not seem to be reflecting the river banks or bridge. That is probably a job for the effect department though. I suppose an image sequence of displacement maps could be used to add the illusion of water flowing.

Paul, you're right, I forgot the bump texture.

Jim, the mountains are modelled by hand but I use a noise plugin for adding detail. I think its author is Emilio Le Roux. I found some stone textures and applied them.

Clouds are paint on The Gimp.

  7. Superb. I like the lighting in the image with just the house best. The other two seem washed out.

Thanks Ken, I used Ambiance Occlusion for this image. I will try to make the same thing with the village but the rendering time will be higher too.

  8. After a long time, I restarted to work on Winkee Village. Firstly I have improved the textures of the houses by adding ivy and straw. Because the render take lot of time, I decreased the grass density and applied some textures on the ground.

The background has been changed too. This is layers now.

    Comments are welcome.

  9. Fab, thanks for the offer on the buildings, right now they have darktree materials on them.

I would like to paint something like ivy, pieces of stone and wood on the houses. I will add these maps in the svn and you will be able to use them to put them on your building.

I see what you mean about being too yellow, I rendered this on my laptop which the pic looks more orange than yellow. I just looked at it on my desktop computer and it looks yellow alright. I'm using Ives' proxy light rig that's on the svn, it uses an orange sun and a blue sky light. I don't want to use the full light rig because I don't want to be rendering all day. biggrin.gif

Now with that said, should I render these gamma corrected?

Yes I understand, rendering with all the lights take a lot of time! ;)

I saw in a Yves tutorial that 2.2 is a good choice for the gamma.

  10. Hi Mark,

I think it's a good start. I advise you to increase the lighting of the scene. Ambiance appears too yellow to me. But Perhaps you want to represent the scene when the sun lies down or when it rises ?

You can also add shrubs, ferns and other forest plants.

At the beginning of the next week I start to make glamour shots of Winkee Village. I think I can improve the houses texturing by painting some details. If you need help for the buildings I could make that with you.

  11. Hi Al,

I made an update on SVN. I am sorry, I forgot to add "winkeeville_base.mdl".

You can find "barkmap.jpg" here :

    Twodata\data\Shared data\Models\Props\Trees\Mark_Trees\Bark_Images\

But I corrected Winkeeville.cho and it works fine for me.

main_landscape.mdl was renamed main_landscape_1.mdl in the Final_Winkeeville folder. This is a copy of your orginal main_landscape.mdl.

    Thanks for bringing these issues.

    Fab.

  12. Jandals, you can remove the sky model from the landscape action and put it in the choreography if you want.

I had not seen that there was a Simbiont folder in the svn, I will correct these bad links.
