  1. In the Hash online Store, I plan on upgrading to yearly subscription. It will be a yearly part of my Christmas from my wife. I also will spend an additional 50.00

dollars in the store? Should I buy the 2005 dvd or 2006 dvd. My wife originally bought AM off of e-bay. It did not come with the hard copy of The Art of Animation Master, so Should I buy it and the The techinal reference guide which totals 50.00 as well. Any advice would be appreciated.

  2. After constraining your model to a path - pull down the property triangle for the constrain to path (or select show properties) to view the ease property - Set the ease value to be the percentage that the model travels along the path. Select the show bias handles - then adjust the rate of ease in & out as desired on the ease channel curve.

    Thank you Nancy!

  3. I am still trying to find out exactly where the ease in and out command is on the path constraint, I tried to click on every sub category in the properties panel to no avail. I must be really blind, could someone lead me to it please?

  4. This Forum is one big group you can use the community window to set up chats

i want to make it clear. in no way am I promoting sending copyright material illegally. I am promoting the sending of knowledge that we share and I know that is done here. it is just another venue to use. It may not even go over well. I actually forgot about the chat option here, so that is something to think about.

  5. I'm looking for an online group!

    I'm a begginer

    (Learning)

So please tell me if you want to invite me to a group!

    thnks

    hi

I am a beginner as well,I would like to be part of a group. Maybe we can get others to join and learn from each other. My biggest problem is my time is limited. I have a book by

David Rogers as well as a dvd set from Barry Zundel and another dvd set by Jeff Lew. I have more training material on the way, another book..plus more traing videoes on Animation Master. I don't know if you are familiar with internet relay chat, but we could set up a channel there to form a group and be able to transfer files between us. let me know if you are interested in this format and i will set something up and give you the particuliars then.

    thanks

    Steve

  6. I am following the guide by David Rogers, and when I make my patches the outer edges of splines turn into hexagon shapes. Like when making a sphere, it is round but with the hexagon look to it. I hope someone understands what i am saying, meaning i hope i am explaining it clearly and in the right way. thanks for any help.

  7. I have a question about vista. I tried AM on a system with and everything seemed to work fine except when I went to orbit in the perspective window. It seemed to drag real bad. Has anyone had this happen?

I am looking at buying a quad system with vista but I need it to rock and roll. no dragging, must work fast. LOL

I could also install xp if I had to but hopefully i might not have to.

I seen that no one really had any bad issues in the posts so maybe its just a simple thing.

I am still very newbie to AM, but so far everthing I have done in Am on the Vista Home premium works great, also my workings are very (rookish) if that is a word.

  8. well, it's prolly too late, but other than my complete disgust with all this hp it sounds fine.

your marketing hype doesn't mention ram, but it most likely comes stock with 1 gig. get two.

  9. yep, 32 bit programs -- including a:m -- run fine on vista x64.

when they have an x64 a:m, it won't run on a 32 bit os.

  10. I'm not sure how much of a choice you will get. Most personal computers and laptops available for purchase right now will automatically come with Vista.

you are right, that is all I am finding right now. So it looks like I will give vista a go...

  11. That's what I'm saying Ken. I've looked on the internet and I've seen severl forums with other owners of my same model (Dell E1705) saying the exact same thing. Dell doesn't have anything besides a 'compatibility' driver that's a year old. There -are- ways around that, but then you're dealing with unofficial, almost hacker level stuff.

thanks for the replies everyone. I think I will stay with XP for now. It seems I still hear too many negatives about vista, I will wait for bugs to get worked out.

  12. I am thinking of purchasing a new laptop with vista os. Does anyone know if Am runs on vista or should I stick with XP. Also if anyone has vista how do you like the overall performance of new operating system? Thanks for any advice.

  13. try changing the image format...that might work...

Thanks I will try when I get back to work on Monday, I am using desktop while at home and following Barry Zundels training dvds, still on the first dvd of modeling.

  14. if you're still having this problem, what kind of notebook is it?

which version of a:m are you using?

    -jon

I haven't had a chance to load up AM even on my breaks at work so I haven't tried the latest tips as of yet. My laptop is a very basic inspiron 1000 from Dell. I probably should be happy to be able to do anything with AM on it. Thank you for trying to help.

  15. you never indicated that you installed the latest video driver.

another idea: a:m loves targas -- .tga files. you're image prolly isn't in that format, so try that too.... after the video driver update.

with me, you'll just have to settle with helpful.

    -jon

Thanks I will try the suggestions, and the video driver is current.

  16. update your video driver.

if you have the latest update, then yes... your laptop sucks.

    -jon

You are right Jon, it sucks! I use Am on my laptop at breaks when at work to practice, learn what I can when I have free time. I have a wife two kids, one in college, and one just turned sixteen. My free time is limited so I try to use very opportunity to learn. I love AM and I am determined to acheive the goal of being able to model and animate. My desktop is is an XPS 410 so it works fine with AM, but I cannot carry it with me to work. So the sucky laptop will have to do for now and I will just have to get what I can out of it. Have a great day and all advise is always appreciated. I have learned a lot from this forum and everyone here is so polite and helpful. When I can maybve I will be able to help someone just starting out... Have a great day, night, morning, weekend and life!

  17. everytime I load a rotoscope on my laptop all I get is a blank box. The project workspace says the rotoscope is there but there is no actual picture in the window. Anybody know what setting I need to change? Thanks.

Hit "Ctrl+P" to open the "Options" menu, select the "Global" tab and change your "Realtime driver" (it's on the bottom left)...if it's "OpenGL", change it to "Direct3D", if it's "Direct3D" change it to "OpenGL".

    Hope that helps.

I tried changing from opengl to direct3d and I just get a black window where nothing is visible, maybe my laptop just sucks..lol!

  18. everytime I load a rotoscope on my laptop all I get is a blank box. The project workspace says the rotoscope is there but there is no actual picture in the window. Anybody know what setting I need to change? Thanks.

  19. how do you get video to play as rotoscope behind your model so you see them at same time. I get video to play but have to minimize one screen to see the other. Thanks in advance for any help.

For seeing a video with your model in:

    1. A modeling window

    2. An action Window

    3. A chor window

While in the front view, right click on an empty area of the window to bring up the context menu. Select New->Rotoscope->Other and then select the video from disk. That should do it but if you have problems in an action or chor window select the rotoscope in the PWS, expand it and locate the frame number. On the action or chor frame zero (or whatever frame you want the video to start on) place a zero in the rotos frame number. Advance the action or chor's current frame number to where you want the video to end and then place the last frame of the video in the rotos frame number.

    or

Import the video into the PWS image area. Drag and drop the video from the PWS to the window where you want it and drop it. In the menu that comes up specify 'rotoscope'. If needed set the roto frame number as discussed above.

I do this all the time to help animate a character (I video tape myself doing it). Sometimes it takes a moment for the video frame to appear after you change it but kick the tire a few times and it works.
