Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 20, 2021 Hash Fellow Posted February 20, 2021 You probably know that WB character Foghorn Leghorn (voiced by Mel Blanc) was based on a radio character "Senator Claghorn" voiced by Kenny Delmar. There is in fact a movie featuring Delmar as Senator Claghorn, "It's a Joke, Son", which I finally watched because it was on my no-airtime-but-fully-charged-battery Tracfone while the power was out for everything else here in Texas. You can get it for free at the Internet Archive https://archive.org/details/its_a_joke_son That's June Lockhart getting kissed in the lower left corner. It's not great. What worked for three minute sketches on radio didn't extend well for an hour on film even with filler and subplots. Delmar was just 37 when this was made so he's not visually convincing as an elderly southern gentleman either. But i found it interesting to see how much milder this incarnation of the character is than Mel Blanc's. If Mel Blanc gets it to 9 or 10, Delmar has got it only up to about a 6. Quote
