Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted March 11, 2013 Hash Fellow Share Posted March 11, 2013 I'm sure you want at least a quad core so you can make good use of Netrender.

*A:M User* Roger Posted March 11, 2013 *A:M User* Share Posted March 11, 2013 Robcat's list is good, an SSD is not critical but one of those things that is really nice to have. My personal preference would be: 1. CPU - eiher a core i7 or AMD A10 APU (if you go AMD you don't need a graphics card right away) 2. 16gb of RAM 3. Win 7 4. motherboard: make sure you have 4 ram sockets and at least one x16 pci express slot 5. HD 1 terabyte should be enough unless you're on a budget 6. Graphics card I wouldn't spend more than $150 to $200 max, whatever is in that price range from Nvidia or ATI/AMD 7. Any old case will do, but I would spend extra for a good power supply like a 500W plus thermaltake or something But you should be able to do the above easily with $1000
thejobe
thats some good stuff. these are things i have already i should have listed before. Win 7 license i have 4 copies so im covered HD im going to be using my Raid i have which is 25 1 TB drives. i want to stick with AMD since it hasnt failed me before so why change now. so i just need: motherboard processor memory (was thinking going 16 GB on this one) video card main HD power supply (at least 800w i would think) Case sound card DVD RW (or BD rw hmmm) so since im saving about $200 with stuff i have already i should be able to get something nice going i should be able to squeeze up to $1400 if i budget right. Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted March 11, 2013 Hash Fellow Share Posted March 11, 2013 Unless you are needing some unusual inputs or outputs, just about any motherboard today has fine sound built in. 25 1TB drives?

Yes 25 1 TB HDs i have alot of crap filled up 4 of them already. i got room on the box for another 10 drives.
Ilidrake
I always hit Newegg and start comparing hardware for a new system. Once I find a piece I like I shove it on to my wish list. Once I have a complete system there I simply add ro replace anything I don't like or need. It's a good way to tell how much your spending.
