Fascinating & fun. I am amazed at how quickly these films get made. It took a bit of bucks (dosh?) for the cherry picker.

I guess it wouldn't be too expensive to hire for the two days it took to make it, especially if they got a credit for it in the film ? The pre planning and preparation must have been phenomenal. I thought it was terrific, and they managed to get change of shot/view into it as well. Obviously a lot of post production but still really effective. I'd love to see it full screen at a cinema. I'll show it to some students tomorrow and see what they think. They probably have the phones used !

Given that this was commissioned by Nokia for advertising purposes, my guess is that way more than big bucks were flowing. And deservedly so!

My rumination was that IF it had been a labor of love: i.e, bunch of people having a great time, doing what they love on their own dime, then it was only the use of the cherry picker that might have been costly.

Soooo? what did they think? And what are you teaching?

I did show it to some staff, and recommended it to some others, the students may have to wait until next week. The people who did watch it were very impressed by it. The simplicity and the enthusiasm of the people involved were particularly noted and we discussed some work I might do with the students after christmas, some possibly with AM, mainly with Istop motion on my old laptop and a number of ideas for live figure versions of Morph type animations, and other stop motion ideas.

I used to teach on a General Art and Design course before retiring on medical grounds and now do animation on a voluntary basis when there are people interested. Otherwise I sit at home staring at the computer screen most of the day, its a very rural setting and can be a bit isolating so the teaching is a good way to stay socialised. I really enjoy it too. They allow me to use their facilities so a lot of the work for next years stop frame sections will be done at the college.
