In addition to many movie clicks and personal insights into John Lasseter there are also interesting facts about George Lucas and Steve Jobs. http://www.charlierose.com/view/interview/12024 (53 minute interview) Joe had this to say in his post about the interview: It shows some real passion from John about his love for animation. What really got me going was hearing how Pixar works and reworks their story all along the way before committing to production. Here's kind of an outline from what I heard. The overall goals: Tell a compelling story Create memorable and appealing characters Place them in a believable world General Production breakdown 1. Story idea - Important questions: Where is the emotion going to be? What is the setting? 2. Outline 3. Treatment (work and rework) 4. Script (work and rework) 5. Storyboarding 6. Story Reels (revise 4-6 times before going to production) 7. Staging with camera work 8. Record dialog 9. Modeling 10. Animation 11. Surfacing 12. Lighting 13. Rendering 13.
