until the real answer comes, here's a workaround:

  • copy the part of the model you want to copy/flip
  • paste it (moving it precisely where the original is, if you've got a paste offset)
  • set the x pivot to zero
  • set the x scale to -100
  • flip normals
  • attach splines on the centerline as needed.

that's old school, for ya!

Copy/Flip/Attach tries to guess which axis you want to flip on.

 

You can make it guess better by

 

-group selecting your half model as usual

-Hold down the shift Key

-select a CP on the axis you want to flip on (if you have show bias handles on, it will be clear which one you have selected)

-Copy/FLip/Attach
