ok iv been told that by using this constrant you can make it so that a bove can only move in specific directions , i have robotic arm and it has 3 joints 1 goes left and right , while the other 2 are up and down , (think a tarancalas leg) how do i set these up to work correctly as i tried myself but they didnt apperantly kick in

I think you will need to be in an action or choreography before they will kick in...

 

With the minimum and maximum XYZ values its a bit confusing but easy to get your bearings thru experimentation. Set zero for the X rotations min and max and try rotating the bone...then try Y...and so on.
