Trying to import wav file

I'm trying to import a wav file, but I get an error message telling me that the file may not be supported? I never had problem with sound before - any ideas?

I've just drag and drop a WAV file on to the Sound folder in project work space.

Thanks for the reply Dick. I figured it out, it was the compression used by wma. Even though I converted it to wav file, I guess there are certain compressions in wav that A:M can't recognize, so, I imported the wav file back into Audacity and exported it again as a wav file and that, magically, worked.

Oh when will it end. There are so many different isotaric attributes to compressions, graphic formats, etc,etc.. Yuck!
