Hi,

I can't use Weight Mover (old & 1.01 version) with my models created in A:M v13e.

When I start Weight Mover and open the model file it just says "Reading the file" but nothing else happens.

Model is here: WM-test.mdl

Weight Mover won't work with Version 13 due to the file format for .mdl changing. Unless Anzovin plans to update Weight Mover or Hash adds a way to save a model in an earlier format we're out of luck. Anyone from Anzovin care to comment? It's a great tool and it'd be a shame not to be able to use it anymore, short of modelling in an earlier version...

And it's too bad. Anzovin's comment was that V13's functionality replaces WM...but I haven't seen anything that does what WM did...there's CPWeights, and it is a cool feature, but I don't know how to use it to 'smooth' like WM did.

Agreed, CP weights are similar but I found it so much easier to define the proxy model, weight it, and then have weight mover do the hard work for me.

This is what we have to do now on the Far Star project with models that will need the use of weight movers. We have to model, rig and weight in v12 and then once done move it to v13 to take advantage of what it has to offer. Isn’t that great!

Look at it this way. It is our big sacrifice we all needed to do for TWO.

I really feel bad for the Anzovin team that you know had to have had to work very hard to develop weight mover for AM users and now has lost the ability to sell their product. I would not blame them if they walked away from AM completely and never came back with any new products.

Don't feel too bad, as I got my x-mas list granted from Anzovin and love it! TSM2 and the WM! It's still all good as far as I am concern.

I have learn that if you are to delete the lo-res that you must delete the file name under "project workspace" window first, then delete the mesh from the "model" window. Not sure if this is Hash or Weight mover issues.

Also when computing all cp weight for whenever your not using WM that you must remove all bone that you have no intention weighting. Then not forget to make those bone visible again before running it thru TSM2.

I would Hash auto cp weight with the lo-res model then tweak it after ward of what I want, then run it thru WM with the hi-res model.

Yes, lots of trial and error before I figure some of these tips out.

I have an old mesh that I have dreaming to make come alive, but was just too undaunting of a task to do until now, thanks Anzovin!

Ruscular,

That is great you purchased the weight mover even though it doesnt work in the new version of AM. You are going to love them both very much. I am sure Anzovin likes the support as well.

So are your plans to stay in v12 or are you going to do what we are having to do?

I'll keep the old copy for modeling for awhile until things change, and its not unheard of to see things in computer become outdated in 3 month. I do expect to get a year out of it. I may not upgrade until I see a need to upgrade. Anzovin have a name they built for themselves thru hard work, and I suppose that kind of character doesn't change overnight. I have to say that anyone who can keep a comprehension and focus on rigging as deeply as they have done has to be working pretty hard and be dedicated. I am sure that the Hash community would be more than happy to keep them in business and wait for the next improvement.

Maybe they'll be the one to do a auto lip syncher thru text and sound file?

My hope is that someday Hash will purchase Weightmover from Anzovin and add it's functionality to A:M. Much as they have sometimes purchased other 3rd party tools.

It probably wouldn't be serious heavy lifting to make it understand the new file format, and it would be good added feature.
