Step 1 make an oval path (oval)-stretched circle-name it

Step 2 make outline of link (circle) name it

adjust sizes

Step 3 Choose path and then right click-plugins-sweeper choose extrude the link outline ok we now have a link-default name sweptobject

Step3a depending how you made path you might have to adjust the link model to get it to orient right on path when you duplicate...remember use front view for drawing outline or positioning dup model ..position to center is reflected in position from path

Step 4 Make chain path straight line (my link was ~100 chain path ~900 I chose 12 duplicates) roll each step 90 make sure you picked sweptobject ok - now chain.. which can be resized and you can erase the parts used to make it
