Vince Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Well, I've gotten to where I can move around pretty well when it comes to creating models, now I'm ready to rig a semi realistic character. I own both TSM2 and Weight Mover. After completing the rigging for my model I found a lot of unwanted folding at the joints (I hadn't used Weight Mover). Playing around with the model has given rise to a couple of questions. First off, how do you Smart Skin after rigging with TSM2? When I move a bone past a certain point in the Smart Skin screen, the TSM Constraint snaps back to "OFF". So I've been turning it back on and continuing on from there. Is there a better way? And would it be better to Smart Skin the model before rigging it with TSM2? Secondly, after the trouble with the smart skinning, I reverted back to a previous save and decided to start over using Weight Mover. I ran TSM builder and Flipper and am now in the process of building the Weight Mover mesh. I'm figuring after running WeightMover, I will then then run the rigger. Is this the best way (order) to do things? After I get the body rigged and smoothed out I'm planning on rigging the face. Just wondering what others have found to be the easiest way or order to rig a model with TSM2 and Weight Mover, start to finish. Thanks in advance! Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 22, 2006 Hash Fellow Posted January 22, 2006 First off, how do you Smart Skin after rigging with TSM2? ...If you turn off the TSM constraints and carfully make visible the actual bones your mesh is tied to that you want to smartskin... it can be done. however... it is very easy to pick wrong bones at this stage. And would it be better to Smart Skin the model before rigging it with TSM2?Yes, I believe the manual even recommends that. After Flipper, before Rigger I think. Quote
Vince Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 Thanks Robcat. Been seeing your advice to others for some time now on these forums (just now getting around to posting a question myself). Got a script error when I tried to run Weight Mover, so I'm going ahead with the smart skinning plan until I hear back from support. Quote
Morgan Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Hi Vince, Just wanted to let you know that I did get your e-mail about WeightMover, and it does look like it might be a bug. I'll be looking into that today. In general, I'd recommend doing any weighting before you run TSM Rigger. Quote
Morgan Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 The WeightMover issue has been resolved, and you can download the new version here. Quote
Vince Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 Thanks Morgan. Downloaded the patch and will try it later tonight. Love the products your company offers, but the site layout can be challenging Quote
