The ugly thing

Recommended Posts

Hello to all, I´ve started a new project where I´ll have a robotic character with an organic mask for a face. I´ve working hard for the last week and here´s what I´ve got, I´d really appreciate some critiques. Thanx already!

PS. has anyone noticed how OpenGL is WAY better for displaying wireframes?

Nice work so far, Pancho. The only things I would alter is I would end the splines that go into the top lip immediately to the right and left in hooks above the lip and I would use the rule of fifths to size the eyes...but, that may just be a style thing, so ignore me if it is.

I usually work in OpenGL unless I need to decal something.

Great modeling.

My crit depends more on the character of the robot. As it it now, the face is exaggerated. And, being that exaggeration lends itself to comedy, this is a visual cue that the character has a whimsical nature. If this robot it a clown, jester, prankster, or oversees children, this face mask would fit the character.

If his character is more serious or non-emotional, this face would be a bit creepy. In the right setting, that could work... ever seen the movie Brazil? The face mask the doctor/torturer uses would be an example.

Anyway, good luck with it.
