pancho simpson Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 hi, i just posted in the general A:M forum but it seems i can´t post images there. Well here´s the render i mentioned w/ my makeshift area light. I think it looks alright but there are artifacts that bother me a bit, in the form of weird shadows in the forehead. However, i believe it´s the lighting since the model has already been smoothed out w/ porcelain and it´s articfact-less w/ the default chor lights. Any thoughts? Quote
Bruce Del Porte Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Can you post a wireframe, are there splines running along those shadows? Quote
pancho simpson Posted January 17, 2005 Author Posted January 17, 2005 actually, there aren´t splines there and the wires can be found @ http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10374&hl=semi the forehead hasn´t changed althougt the cheeks have! Quote
pancho simpson Posted January 23, 2005 Author Posted January 23, 2005 hmmm.... why didn´t anyone respond? Anyway, i discovered that Klieg lights are the only ones giving me these artifacts! is this normal? i´m using two w/ z buffered soft shados at around 60% softness and 1024 map size. HELP!!!! Quote
jesshmusic Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 I'm not an expert, but the problem may be the z-buffered shadows. Can you get better results with ray tracing? I also noticed that the interior of the head is lit, but I can't remember how to fix that. Ha! I guess I didn't help too much! Quote
pancho simpson Posted January 25, 2005 Author Posted January 25, 2005 I also noticed that the interior of the head is lit, but I can't remember how to fix that. i think that's the direction of the klieg light. Anyway, ray-traced shadows look very grainy even at 10 ray cast Quote
jesshmusic Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Have you checked out Yves's Lighting Tut? This may help you a lot. http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10132 Quote
pancho simpson Posted January 28, 2005 Author Posted January 28, 2005 hmm, thanks but i´m trying to stay away from radiosity and the huge rendertimes (i have an 800MHz celeron!). Quote
