  1. There are three main characters in the game. So you will be playing as all of them at seperate times. Sheldon the turtles friend, is Tina the Crane. and here she is.

Again.. no eyes.. i am not ready to make those yet because it will take time to figure out the perfect look.

And nothing is to scale. I just want to show some stuff to you guys!

    {UPDATE--can not sleep}

just making some biome specific items.. the crates arent really for here I dont think but i didnt want to get rid of them

  2. I would highly recommend to watch my video-tutorial on the subject before you do anything else. It really covers all you need.

Anyway what you did wrong is, that you are trying to export directly from an Action-file. That is not the way it should be done.

First go to your modelling-window and do an export from there. This will create the model-file with the bones, weights and the geometry and textures.

After that, go to the action-window and try to export again. It will now ask for a file and this time you search for the previously generated directx-file. It will then append the animation to the file (or create a new one with the animation applied to it.

    See you

Okay it took me longer than i would like to admit on figuring out to navigate your website. So i eventualy found the tutorials and i realized how i was installing the directX exporter was completely wrong. But from the looks of it everything should be working out soon I just need to purchase Ultimate Unwrapper and i'll be good to go. Thank you very much, and especially the tutorials! Great help.

Have a look at my signature... you will find tutorials on the subject.

    See you

I am going to try what Paul said about Ultimate Unwrap. But i am having troubles with your .x exporter. I put them all in the .hxt part of animation master but whenever i click the export it says its trying to open a file rather than export one.. do you know what i did wrong?

    Im using v.13

  4. Well me and my friend are working on a game idea and the program im using to code with is Unity 3d.

I can export models succesfully to 3ds Max files to import into Unity which is great to know because animation master is what I am good at.

My first question however is, Is there any way to export animation files from animation master into any other file types that i could possibly use?

And i am going to post all the things i model in this topic so you guys can see all of my progress!

This first picture is What the game style will be. Legend of Zelda Wind Waker is the inspiration.

    gamepreview1.jpg

And if anyone saw me post this first turtle i made in another topic. I completely redesigned him today to fit in with our style we are going for. So here is the comparison. New guy is on the left. No eyes yet tho :P

And here is his running sequence. Or shall i say first attempt at running sequence.

  5. Okay this guy is not part of this project but he fits in the description of Animals.

Me and my friend want to make a game. Well it will be friends. Who knows how it will go or end up but this is the main character.

I am done working for the day but I just wanted to show this guy off. Im pretty proud of him so far.

  6. The head looks more dog-like and the body looks more-cow like... but i like it.

You could probably run the two hooks on the side through the patch as regular splines

Do you or does anyone else have any pointers for what should be done to make it more cow-like. Because I definitely see that and had been thinking it a lot of the time.

And I had planned to do connect those points when I was modelling but I guess it just slipped my mind. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

  7. I got an idea the other day to make animations involving a bunch of animals. Its going to be a completely random set of clips of a bunch of different animals doing anything I have thought of. Me and my friend always come up with [what we think] are hilarious ideas and i figured i could implement them into an animal rather humans.

So today I figured I would start with an animal and figure out a look of my own. And the original idea was to have them look Almost as if claymation but done in CG.

Tell me what you think of my progress from today.

  8. Well everything involving animation master is about complete. My last 42 second animation of a fly around inside the arena is rendering but that should about do it. Then I have a little more editing to do and my friend will be finishing up some music for it and it will be good to go. I am very pleased with what I have so far.

This is a screenshot from what I am rendering right now.

  9. I dont want this to offend anyone its just we always joke our cousin about being homosexual when in fact he is not. But for halloween at school he went as Woody from Toy Story. He is 17.

I am not letting him live that down. Someone should have made fun of him.

    jonah.jpg

That is where i come in

    And others.

  10. Well school has started. I am attending the Art Institute of Atlanta and my first semester just started and I already love it. But its still no excuse for why i have not been doing my stuff for thanksgiving. So now i am bout to start working hard on this to get it finished so maybe i can do some decent editing in the end.

But here is a screenshot and two rendered clips of the individual characters introduction scenes.

    securitycam2.jpg

this one.. one of my grandpas does his hair before putting a shirt on.. always has.. and his wife puts his shirt on over his head in the morning. and one of my aunts makes fun of this so much so its in the video..

this grandpa is the "chuck norris" of our family. he is the man and can "do anything" ha.

  11. It might be a memory issue. I would definately split your model up and start creating action objects if you haven't been doing this already. Ask any of the great mechanical modellers around here if you need advice on that though. I haven't really explored that much.

This is the first I have heard of action objects what are they for and what do they do?

And slight change of pace either way. The hallway is pretty much being cut from the project its causing me way too many problems and I need time for rendering if I will even be able to.

So instead of going door to door I am going to show each person's inside joke scene intro clip from a 'security camera's' point of view and put a filter to make it look recorded.. so quality of render wont matter for this.

This is a look at the first thing I have done for this method.

    securitycam1.jpg

still needs animating done obviously but this is just where i end the day.

  12. Is the interior set also a part of the exterior model?

I only ask because if it is... you can cut down on a whole lot of splines by having them as separate models or projects.

No it is in a totally different project with nothing from the previous one.. The Entire set is one model however.. And consists of 18000 patches.. I do not know how it got to be so high. I think i am going to be splitting this up into a bunch of different models and then reducing the patch count a lot.

    :::EDIT:::

I just noticed each one of the chairs is 600 patches.. im going to make them way less quality.. but i'll put the model up for anyone who wants it. its fairly decent and if in a somewhat closeup shot it would do someone help maybe.

  13. Appreciate the suggestions Rodney and Chris!

I am definitely going to need to spend some time on lighting.. Probably will just spend a whole day on that once all of my animation and modelling is done.

But Here is the second part of my video. Its going to consist of a child carrying a camera through the hall and walking door to door and when it opens you will each of the contestants for the tournament and they will be doing their own quirky thing or inside family joke. But I have constructed the hallway that I am going to use. Minus something in the corner in the far end of the scene. And this also makes a left turn to more doors. 23 total doors i believe.

But this lighting is pretty memory intensive.. plus the probably too high of patch count i have right now.

I never got to do an actual render it just pretty much froze so i used render lock mode until it finished.

    hallway1.jpg

  14. For out door light... Are you wanting sunny or overcast?

I am going for a sunny look but I just want it to be somewhat realistic lighting. I am still trying to figure out lighting it is quite the bugger.

But what I just did was somewhat a decent look and that was a very big klieg light casting shadows then turning up ambiance on the objects and I got this.

It also cut the render time down a good two minutes.

    lighting1.jpg

  15. Well I have just about finished up the first two minutes of footage for my video. This is just the fly through of the town and showing off the arena (image below) and i just have a few more camera tweaks and some model adjustments and it willl be off and ready to be rendered.. Which is a problem because its going to take a very.. very long time. Plus the fact that i am going to be populating the second part with people because they are all outside of the arena waiting to see the "Main Event".

Then I have individual character scenes to do which will probably be anywhere from 10-20 seconds apiece.. And I have twenty plus characters to do. Oh fun.

But yeah this a screenshot of the arena entrance.

    arena3.jpg

And uh any ideas on large areas of grass that is simple to do without putting like 300 stamps of a decal on there. im messing around with just material roughness right now and it may get the right look.

And yeah my lighting is now all whack again so i am going to have to redo it all once again, cause now that i look at it.. there is too many spotlight spots and shadows are not realistic.

    EDIT:

    here is a new screenshot
