I'm actually looking for a seamless texture generator, meaning it will make a texture from scratch, so for example: I select some parameter such as wood texture, I tweak the heck out or it to make it look like some other tpye of material etc etc, then I render it and the program makes it into a seamless texture. I appreciate the help. Fortunately Animation Master is great at what it does, but for other operations you have to look elsewhere for a solution. While that may work, the time consumed doing it that way when you have a large number of diffrent sized textures it would take to long. Tralfaz, that look like a nice texture program indeed, however according to the forums it doesn't create seamless textures. but people have been posting some alternatives there so I'll use that as a resource as well to find something I'm looking for.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Surely people using a 3d application like this is bound to need a seamless texture creator of some sort... Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanx guys.

OH, okay now I see that extra button that appears when I select the 5 points of the patch. Thanx for the school lessons guys. I do understand how the spines work, it was just the whole 5 point thing that was messing me up. like a 4 point patch won't render if it's a single spline etc. it will only render if it's 2 or 4 diffrent "lines" that create a 4 point square etc. that I know from another program I use to use, which is what makes me excited about A:M Hooks on the other hand I'll be checking that link out since I'm new to the hook world. Thanx alot guys.

close FPPS? not sure what that is exactly.

so far I've had no problem getting 3 or 4 point meshes to render, but I can't seem to get a 5 point one to render... Am I missing something that I have to do? Also I've seen alot on hooks but don't know what they are nor how to create one. this might be useful for me as well. Thanx guys.

I was just wondering if there were any good seamless texture generators you guys may know of. I've tried the genevia or whatever it's called and it was a tad confusing. Anyonoe have some input on this subject or available seamless texture creation programs? Thanx guys.

I have version 11.1 so I don't thing PNG was supported then as I don't have a PNG option...

Xnview worked just perfectly for what I wanted it to do. I would have rathered something with a sole purpose of just converting, but it's the results I'm after. And I got them. Thanx alot bud, I appreciate it.

Anyone know of anything I can use to convert TGA files to PNG fast like a batch converter that will actually keep the alpha channels? I've tried a bunch of converters, but they all ignore the alpha and I end up with an image that has a black background instead... Thanx guys.
-
is there any way I can change the alpha channel color from black to something else? I need solid black on the outside of this character thing I'm making, and I know most software can do it, so that's why I'm here. I just don't know how to probably. as always, any help is greatly appreciate. Thanx guys.

Thank you very much Camillo, you've been a great help. I'll be constructing my models now that I know it can do what I need it to now. I'll post some screens and info about it more when it's closer to completion. I'll be modeling the main character first (Krane Razner) for the game. I'll let people see him when I get something to look at. Thanx again.

And lastly, is there a way I can export to a alpha enabled PNG instead?

So that blue looking background will be black at rendertime and be a alpha? Sorry guys, just trying to get some info on this stuff, I'm moving from 2D animation to 3D and I'm loving it, just need some help. I appreciate all the input. You guys are great.

okay sorry for my newbish ways, but how do I turn off everything I don't want at render time such as the floor and walls (not sure there is walls by default, but the floor seems to render...)? or do I do that somehow beforehand? Thanx alot of your help and screen, it's much easier for me to see a visual aid to get things done. I'm not good with reading and learning by that.

I'm currently working on a 2d game that supports alpha channel PNG/TARGA files and I was wondering if there was a way I could render to TARGA and have only the model itself reder and everything else be a "blank" background. This is a vital process for my game and I'm hoping it can be done in A:M if it helps, I'm using v11.1H Thanx guys.

wouldn't that mean I'd have to make several lights around the character to make it appear that it's all lit up? I'm new to this so I'm not sure. I know in some software I can make the actual model self luminated so I don't have to have any lights etc. the model itself would be a light kinda thing.
-
I wanted to know if there's a way to remove all the lights in the room and have the model self luminated. I know this must sound like a strange request, but I'm making a game with my animations and the engine already has lighting for the models so it would look strage with shadows and lights reflecting off the character. I'm using a pre-render method for the game, I'm not using the model itself which is why this is important. Thanx guys.

anyone have anything to share?

I've read several posta about this topic and was wondering if it has ever been done. I know there's physics and such for simple objects but nothing to that of a ragdoll so far as from what I read. this was post from back in 2005. I currently have version 11.1H and was wondering if that or something later than that has it and if so how I could unleash it. Maybe if someone has an example project it may help me out. Thank you guys.

okay, thanx alot for your help itsjustme, you've been a great help. I hope there's more answers where this one came from being new I'm sure I'll have more questions. For now I'm golden and modeling at the moment. I downloaded all the tutorial videos from AM site, they should help. are there any other resources such as video tutorials made by users that you can refer me to? that would also lower my question count and I can learn some things on my own instead. Thanx.

I highly doubt it's you. I'm quite new to the 3d world, I've plated around in max a few times but it just wasn't a very nice environment to work in, for me anyway. I'm a 2D animator and game designer (By Hobby), and I've been using Moho AKA Anime Studio for years now but there comes a time where having character rotating and moving in diffrent directions is a real pain in 2D. I just figured that if I build a Character once in 3D that's all I have to do. Picture this. Draw 25x the same character in diffrent views to get him to do a kick, or build him once and make him learn complete martial arts. Personally I find 3D easier in a way, maybe not the character creation part of it, but overall reusable characters that you can use for anything is a definate. And of course with the toon filter on apparently I can make it look 2D so there we go. Right now I'm on a loaner version of A:M to test out and learn some things to show the school I want to get it for. Any Idea when 2008 will come out? I don't really want to get 2007 if I have to pay another $100 if 2008 is just around the corner...

Wow, That was a bit confusing to read, but it worked out. Thank you.

I am making a face and made part of the right side of the face and wanted to copy flip and paste it to see what it looked like and I'm not sure why but when I do it makes a copy of partial face in front of it and attaches the tips of the nose... I checked my views and yes I'm in frontal view when modeling the front of the face so I don't know what's happening. I'm very new to AM so if you answer my question, please be as detailed as possible. original face my problem... Thank you guys.
