You'd need to talk to the developer on that one, but he's not making many personal appearances these days.

It's almost like Harold and Maude.
Seems platonic, but I did get a hint of that.

Very sweet human interest story. Looking at his room/workshop, there must be something about the artist brain that tends towards being disorganized.
Doris looks like she's lead an interesting life, I'm sure she has some stories to tell.

Funny you should bring that up, I ran across that somewhere else, maybe a week or two ago. Kinda wild it works the way it does.
There was someone that was using this technique to spruce up old Amiga computers, that had cases that were too far gone to restore via normal means.

No, I think he just got tired of being Richard Simmons.
I would.
Wouldn't anyone? That's a lot of manic energy to keep going.

This reminds me that Richard Simmons has not been seen in almost 10 years.
Last I heard, his housekeeper was holding him prisoner in his house. May or may not be true.

I don't think the public expects the Holodeck, they know that's impossible. But these various VR goggles will have to present some experience nearly as compelling as that to lure the general public into making a habit of wearing these and paying a premium fee for it.
I'm reminded of a Dennis Miller bit: "the day some retired iron worker can put on a headset and have a completely believable experience where he is banging Claudia Schiffer, is the day the human race goes extinct"
Assuming they can get the price down to $300 or so, I imagine that if this provides a superior experience to other VR headsets, that people will get it even without fully immersive VR like the Star Trek Holodeck. I've tired a few of the current headsets with a climbing type game, and the experience was close enough to "real" to give me a sensation of vertigo.

Looks like a cool product, but it is easily 5x to 10x what the market will tolerate. And we are officially in a recession. I don't see this flying off the shelves, even with people who are very well off.

You can still join our new C++ study group!
It's fun, it's exciting, all the cool kids are doing C++ these days.
I dunno man, last time I listened to the cool kids I got into trouble...

Just do what you can, we appreciate your hard work. Hopefully things slow down a bit for you.

Very interested Roger!
PM me your details and I'll see if I can't get it out to you by end of the week. I need to do a quick test with it to make sure it's working.

I'd say go with that, that looks like it would impress the average corporate numnutz.
Based on the number of hats you're expected to wear, it seems like you should be making $200k/year at this job. I wouldn't kill myself on this presentation.

I always wondered who the heck they were trying to sell a $20k workstation to. SGI might have been able to get away with that back in the day, but I think those days are long gone.

Hey Roger, Just checked, Entry Level Mac Studio with 32gb Ram is the same price as a M2 Mac Mini, with $200 bump for a 1 TB HD, this is pretty much the sweet spot, plus you get all the extra thunderbolt ports too ! Granted its running the older CPU, based on single core speed, there is marginal performance hit, I think this might be the winner for our next interim machine
I just checked used prices on Mac Studios with 64gb, Looks like they are running $2200-$2500. I'm liking that price a lot more
Any ideas when the new Mac Pros are supposed to be coming around?

I think what bugs me most about the M2 Mac Minis is they didn't make the base RAM at least 32GB. Or if they were gonna go with 16 as the base, then 32 should have been a $200 bump at most.
I'd be curious to know how an M2 Mac Mini or a base model Studio would compare to say, a 16 core Ryzen box with a similar amount of RAM and a decent GPU. A 16 core Ryzen box with 64GB RAM, 3060ti and 1TB SSD is comparable in cost to a base Studio or fully maxed out Mini.

This is interesting, I have an older Mac Mini that I picked up for helping me in my day job. Thought about getting an M2 Mac Mini but every time I spec one out I get sticker shock.

The Rollkers just look freakin' horrible. Why not just rollerskate to work? Would look less stupid and probably be cheaper, too.

So apparently they decided to do a 40th anniversary screening of Return of the Jedi starting today, but didn't bother to promote it in any fashion.
So if you haven't had a chance to see it in theaters before now, or just want to go have a bit of a nostalgia trip, it is running this weekend (and possibly the next few days, not sure) in most major markets, but you might have to look a bit since there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what theaters they chose. It's by me and I'm in the middle of nowhere in the rust belt, so there's a good chance it's playing by you.

Thanks for posting this, Rob.

Congrats Dan and Steve!
I liked that Dan managed to squeeze a story into the constraints of the contest, good job!
Steve, I like your old man character, will we ever see more of him?

That's very sad. RIP.

So if all it can do is make copies of stuff, how do we know there's not already one running Disney?

Is this an AI image? Because his left paw looks like it has too many digits. Likewise, the right paw looks too much like a human hand.
Otherwise, it's a cute concept.
