  1. Hi. I don't have problem with making faces or other object. When it came to making a car model I thought that would be dead easy as I have all my rotoscopes matching evenly. But when I get to Extruding Splines ( example the car wind screen) I find I cant get the splines that make up the part to spread or curve evenly.

I cant post a WIP as I keep deleting and starting all over. Some were they has to be an example of a curved object made from a Rotoscope showing what to do as one extrudes from on edge to another. Most of the WIP on car modeling have models that are complete.

I am sure that I am missing out something very subtle. After all I figured out how to get all the Rotoscopes for a blue print to the same scale.

I tried changing some of the CP's bais but that made the part more of a mess

  2. Why not just have it say something like "use these models at your own risk." Or something like that. Obviously it will need to be worded properly but yeah just use that...Anyways I wish you a huge success and I will most likely be commissioning (I don't think I spelled that right...) custom models from you guys. I will check out your site now.

One Major problem I have found is that if you make a model in version 10.5 with poses and other relationships most of the poses will not work in version 12.

So I guess to be on the safe side I will be making models with out poses and materials. If you have some of the old versions of AM you testing them would be quick.

  3. Will I think if theses store want to pick up quick you guys had better let everyone know what can be use.

when it comes to Textures that are made from Templates. It's real no goog hoping everyone reads this laws. after all learning to make modles takes up a lot of peoples time. Flicking through pages on the Internet checking for copy right laws is a put of. I must admit the only time I have looked at whats ok and not ok to do is from the links on this forum topic.

I have kept way from making models that require skeletons cause I imagine that too could be tricky. All this information is required by the modeler before they even begin to make there model.

I personal think this idea is going to kick of big time once everyone has a clear rule book and they dont have to keep flipping back and forth. I imagine sometime later on you guys will( and should) give the modelers a form with labels and blanks to Fill in rather then make a Readme txt file. people with arctic talent dont often have financial talent to go hand in hand. So please dont let the law man help themself to a free meal.

  4. You mean Dough! dough! and doug! dont you (:lol: lol). Well thanks justme you have made things clearer.

So what all the copyright stuff means is I can make my own painting of the Mona Lisa with my face and show it off to all of the world. But the minute I try to make money from it I am busted. cool.

I think I am on the same page now when it comes to the modeling of Well known characters. The only query I have now is the use of decals and material to make my models look realistic.

I am wondering if I have to dig up my favorit imaging program to make up my own textures. Most of the images I use either came with AM or down loaded of the internet. I am talking about wood and brick type textures.

I have found with some people models that already come with materials are real not usable when it comes to rendering the image in an animation. I would hate to make an impressive model and sell it to some one that wants to use it in an animation only for them to find it takes weeks just to render the first frame.

  5. [attachmentid=20138]Duh? that still dont answer my simple question. the 2 models came with Animation master. neither of them were called Goofy or bugs bunny. The goofy sticker has not been flagged and I have sold 4 stickers. From what I understand the models that come with Animation master are Free. Most creaters only ask for credit for using there material. So why have IMVU left the bunny sticker that uses the motion capture tap dance. I can only imagine Warner Brothers must be hard up (LMGDAO)

Any way they only things have been adding to my models to make them look more appealing are Decals of texture images form either the AM CD or of the Internet.

BTW not sure if I should say this but I think the models on AM would make better viewing then the ones used in IMVU. That is If AM ever made a chat program like IMVU.

Personal I find IMVU to be very greedy

  6. [attachmentid=20135][attachmentid=20136]I know this is going to sound back 2 front but You real want a FAQ for people making models with the Information Required for the Read me Text close together. Better still send the people that want to send models this information. Working on a model and flicking back and forth on web pages is kind of putting me of the whole idea. As you know that Internet gets quite over loaded at times or a page will just crash on one.

Of particular Interest would be a list of what you might call copy right material. From what I understand any thing that is copyright should be labeled as such.

I also use a chat program called IMVU were you can make and sell graphic products. A while ago I made an animated gif sticker of the bunny from The AM CD. I gave the sticker the name, "Bunny shuffle". The sticker was up for 2 months before some on decided I was breaking some copyright law. yet I have loads of other animated stickers from AM that have said noting about(Example is Goofy)

  7. I think the reason you sound might be going out of sync with your animation is the origional MIDI file.

I got a couple of Midi drums and Key boards with Midi Drums.

In my early days on Windows I tried hooking up my MIDI drums to my PC to get it to work with Cakewalk and QBase. I always had a problem with sync in the 2 together. I also had problems playing gutire to MIDI Drums. Humans dont play music like machines. So I guess some clever guy or gal has made it possable for a drum beat to slide in and out of sync and make it sound natural.A human drummer reliase on both Audio and visual clues for keeping the temp a drum machine depends on the programmer.

sounds made by MIDI I belive rellay on a clock to generate the beat (Tempo) and the beat you were using might not have been quntized so as to let it sound natural. quantizing might make it sound to mechanical.

When somthing dont work in Am I try an old but simuler projet made in the passed. some versions Of AM can do things other cant and it worth you while taking note.

sometimes Reinstalling AM is the only Answer.

  8. :D

Re: animating lip sync. I can't remember how I did the tute, but I basically do lip sync by constructing each mouth shape to suit the audio. So I don't really use phoneme shapes as such.

I base my technique on the book by Jason Osipa 'Stop Staring' which is GOLD jerry... GOLD!!!

Thanks for the kind words chaps.

    :)

You cant remember how's about $500,000. Will that help you.

Seems your have made hash's phonemes dictionary obsolete. The demo is usless without instructions

Any way nice to see your back on the sence shaun

    B)

  9. Hello everone does anyone have any idea what happed to shaun freeman. The first and last I heard of shaun was form the hash demo sync he made for AM. His demo is the best and most realistic I have ever seen. But his Demo act has no dope sheet for the words. So I am guessing he must have used some other program to do the lip sync. His poses for the Lips and mouth have noe Phoneme,

Mind you I think the dictionary needs to be edited. The C D G N R S TH Y Z dont real make the same lip poses nor dose M P B. I guess shaun realised this and has found some t other way to do the lip sync.

I have re worked his modle to use the phonemes that hash uses but the effect is not the same.

you should all have the demo on you AM v12 I am sure

  10. Chris.

There is a number of thinks that might help. First make sure all the Center bones like "Back, pelvis, chest, neck, head have there x start points at x= 0. Then instead of copying and pasting Skeleton key frames try copying and mirror pasting muscle keyframes.

The next method I use all the time to get paste mirro to work. In you tools menu go to Modling and chance "Mirror Mode Tolerance to read 1.27 cm and Group Snap Tolerance to 1.27cm. Then go to the action tab have grid spacing set to eithr 5cm or 1 cm.

When you first get AM the default setting I belive are still in inches and most of the modlers make the modles with the settings in metric.

Note most modles will work with the new settings. So make 1 change at a time and try it on a few modles before moving on

  11. If it worked once before then I would scrap your present project and start from scrath. It is not always easy to see what is wrong once a Window based program starts missibhaving. Up untill the middle of 2005 I was uninstalling and reinstalling AM 2 to 5 time a week. I am still using AM v10.5 but inbetween the last 6 months XP has upgraded to its best for AM. when ever I have to Update Windows I do clean reinstalation of AM. By the way draging and dropping can get trick and I would bet you might have missed the target for you action. I have stuck to the old right click on the model and chossing " import action". Try reinstalling AM.

  12. Hi angus, and welcome to the world of computer animation. Hint spend some time reading some of the good tutroils out there. There is alot of good looking bad Tuts out there that are not proof read. as a result they leave a lot of useful information.

I notice you make no mention of keyframing your choryograpgy action. When an Object completes an action and then has another added in the choreyography it helps if after every action you add a keyframe.

Try you project with out the path and the contstraint.

Another hint when filiming a walk action is to have your character in one place and have the background, groun/floor or camaer do the walking. You get a better effect if you leave the constraint to path when joining action.

I hope that helps.... or should I just quit work and do a full AM tutorial

PS Sorry my spelling sucks and the fourm spell checker not working.

  13. does anyone know of a good tutorial on using surface constraints. There is an expanation of how surface constraint are supposed to work in the AM help. I have looked at the explantion many times to see if I am missing anything and I still cant bring myself to experiment with the function. It is not clear in the example if the object I am constraining to a surface has any constrants on it too. Surface normals are mentioned but that is as far as it goes. It would be nice to make a chory action with a car driving over bump ground,

  14. Thanks John

The only problem is there is no sound with your flash tutorial. I guess I am will have to watch it a number of times to figure it out.

I hope your pc donut pack up m8. could you please tell me what software you use to make you webpage. The reason I ask is because some of the information is missing. I would like to make my own video tutorial too and would like to know what software you use to record. I personally am not a great fan of Flash tutorials as something always goes wrong when there played on a different computer.

  15. Help I am to afraid to ask . I am sure I am not the only person that has problems loading material in AM. If I load the material into an empty project AM will Run ok. But if I load material into a project the icons in the works project swap or disappear. The material I added disappear too when I click on it. At this point I shut down the project and if I then reopen a new project and click on the materiels folder AM is Shut down instanly. I like Using AM V10n But cant work with materiels. Am 9.5v ain't so bad with loading material nether is 10.5v. But I dent like working with 3 different versions of AM. Is there a way around the marterial problem in AM V10n
