  1. Thanks, David. After 3 rounds of polishing, finally they are ready for the base paint. Next step, something you might hardly imagine a man doing, applying makeup. Rijk
  2. After first round of "coarse" polishing, imperfections shows up. These will require some putty work and further sanding and polishing.
  3. Okay, thanks everyone. I'll try to update this thread if things goes well. pixelplucker: I'm using a Form 1+ too for just over a year (i.e. warranty just expired). It started out as an outstanding printer but since then I'll suffered two major breakdowns included one swopping. As a matter of fact it just broke again tonight. I'm afraid it might be the end of it. If that is the case, the above printed heads might very well be the last for a long while. While trying to get the printer fixed, I'll continue to work on the current prints. Rijk
  4. Just to share some WIP done with help of my newly obtained A:M. Quite a few other software was used but A:M played an important part. These are unfinished prints form a 3D printer. ...with sprayed primer What comes after will be a lot of handy work such as polishing and painting, unfortunately not digital. So might not be appropriate for posting in A:M forum. Cheers, Rijk
  5. Need more time to explore Rijk
  6. Hi everyone, Thanks for everyone's help, and the generous Rodney. A:M v18 is up and runniing!! Rijk
  7. No problem Rodney. I am very very happy either way. Everybody deserves a nice weekend, esp. Jason. I've been waiting for the update for how long? 10 years? Won't matters for a few days more. Rijk
  8. Yes, and I like what I'm seeing so far. Waiting for my license to come through. Many thanks to Rodney. Rijk
  9. Just in case there is a clone Rijk out there, I emailed you via rijklau@gmail.com Rijk
  10. I definitely won't miss out this chance. Rijk
  11. Rodney, seems that I can't locate the PM button so I emailed you. And thanks! Rijk
  12. Thanks a lot robcat2075, detbear & Rodney. That clears things up very much. I've asked for a trial version and most likely will get a subscription if it runs smoothly on my XP machine. Rodney, I am flattered. Legend is definitely not who I am but thanks. Due to a change of job nature I used A:M to make miniatures figures (12mm) and vehicles as my hobby, and use A:M's Action and Choreography capability to present "pose" proposals to my boss who is making 1:56 miniatures. I can say I can never do my job without A:M. Cheers, Rijk
  13. Hi, I am an old user (still using v10) and is looking at the current version for a possible upgrade. But the subscription method is making my head spinning. (May be I'm really too old ) If I purchase a subscription, will the software stop working after one year? Or can I still work with it but with no access to updates only? Also I read somewhere that A:M now supports STL export with improvement in subdivision of patches, but cannot find information on Hash's site or the forum here. I'm using A:M to build real physical models with 3D printer so that could be the one feature that makes v18 a must have for me. Another issue is using Win XP with v18. Seems that v18 will be the last version that supports Win XP. When subscription ends, and I extended the subscription, can I carry on using v18 on my XP or am I forced to upgrade to v19 etc. and have to upgrade my computers too? Any help is appreciated. Cheers Rijk
  14. I did not have this problem. The most frequent problem I encountered is having two surfaces overlapping exactly and caused non-manifold errors, whatever that means.
  15. To get smoother surfaces, I use setting of 16 during DXF export. Because of the scale of the objects I'm working on, they turned out to be quite smooth. I sometimes export the model in parts, say a box shape body using low poly count and wheels in high poly counts and combine them together in Rhino before exporting STL. I have some success doing boolean by importing the STL back into Rhino. It is very interesting that when Rhino import A:M DXF, it became one single object. But when re-importing the STL back into Rhino, it breaks down into individual parts as within A:M.
  16. Ghost from the past...
  17. Yes, the models needed to be watertight. Turn out to be achievable in A:M, just stitch close all holes and normal facing outside. I exported DXF to either Rhinio or AccuTrans 3D to export an STL file. Other free translaters probably work also.
  18. Hi all, I've away from this forum for quite a while but never leave A:M. I am show some stuffs that I'm working on. You can take a look at here, all of the products are done with A:M and printed using 3D printing technology: CGD - Shapeways Just to proof that they are made in A:M, here are some screen captures.
