  1. Ya, mine only has Poly Model, 3DS, and Avatar 2. What version of A:M did you use to make those pics? I am still using 10.5 (as I don't have the funds to upgrade).

I did find 1 obj exporter, but it's for v '99 and is in .hie format and is supposed to go into the IE folder, which I don't have.

  2. Is there any way to export A:M models into Daz/Poser readable .obj files?

There are several export plugins that will send a model out of A:M into the .OBJ format.

If Poser reads those you should be good to go.

Alternately you could export to another format (such as .3DS) and use another program to convert that to .OBJ.

Have you tried importing an .OBJ file from A:M into Poser yet?

Thanks, I'll look for a plugin.

And no I havn't tried importing yet, cause I don't have any .obj files from A:M, I only have .mdl files. Is there a way to save my models as an .obj?

  3. In addition to A:M, I've also been working with the Daz/Poser programs. I would love to be able to work with both of these programs on my projects. Is there any way to export A:M models into Daz/Poser readable .obj files?

  4. I am also having this problem. I am trying to make a Castle Tower and I am trying to take out a few of the blocks from the top of the tower. I made the tower with a lathe, and when I remove the unwanted splines, the remaining blocks become squared off. I want to keep the splines there, but remove the patches. I tried adding a CP to the spline, but that compromises the circular-ness of the tower. If pics are needed I can provide them.

Basically what I need is a way to add a CP to a spline without moving the spline at all. I've heard that if I hold down either Shift or Ctrl and hit Y it will do it, but it doesn't do anything. I am using v11.1i

  5. Thanks for the advice, however (unless I did something wrong) I don't think it will work.

I did your method on the left side of the foot. I wasn't able to select the lathe line because it is vertical, so I just selected each of the CPs while holding Shift and then hit O. The right side is peaked, but notice the blockyness of it. I am wanting (an it may not be possible) to have the curvature of the left cup, with the flatness of the right bottom.

Well, I think I will just leave it bowed out. When in normal view you really can't tell.

I made the mouth a little smaller, so I think it looks much better now (look at the first pic of the post, reload the page if nessesary) However, I do have a few more cosmetic issues I want to deal with:

1: For some reason there is a seam right there, there is also one just like it on the bottom part of the visor (there is a shaded, spline copy of the visor below). There is a spline that runs thru these seems, but I don't know why that would be causing a visual effect.

2: This one I may be able to live with as is, but I would really like for these areas to be seamlessly smoth with the rest of the head. There is one of these on the other side too. They were created when I pulled the CPs back to make the roundedness for his mouth.

    Thanks for all the help.

  6. I am currently working on Bender from Futurama. I am still very new to AM and don't know much about complicated modeling. Which is why I started with Bender, he's mainly lathes and extrudes. What I need help on is his feet (I have figured out all of my other questions). The issue Im having with his feet is that when I try to put a surface over the bottoms it warps the rest of the foot-cup (pic 2 below). I have tried extruding the bottom circle and then making it smaller, but that makes "smooth" lines which bows out the bottom of the foot.

Any help would be much appreciated

  7. those are apparently more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules.

Ya, I've noticed that myself. There are some pictures that are submitted to the Image Contest with peoples names on them, when it clearly says in bold text (No credit or copyright of any kind on the image, please! I will add them AFTER voting is done!) right on the contest page. I even saw a few vids with peoples names and/or websites on them. Also, some of the vids didn't even follow the theme of the contest.

  8. thanks for the encouragement Nimblepix (yes, this is Balthazar, I am going by my website name, so when I start posting stuff on my site, I'll only have one name associated with me). I was sitting in class tonight (I am in Massage Therapy School) and I was looking at my jar of lotion and thought it would be cool to model.... so I did it. The only things I have left to do on it is add a bump map to one of the sections under the nozzle to give it a rigid look (as if a place to grab if you are going to unscrew the nozzle) and then add the label sticker to the front (which I need to make first.
