Meowx, thanks for the offer to help. Much appreciated. But I managed to get it installed. I had to install it under the user account I wanted it. I thought I had done that before, but for some reason it worked this time. My fault I'm sure. Thanks so much! John

I preface this with saying I realize I'm missing some simple step to this. I don't think its a bug. So I apologize for the boneheaded question...however... So I've previously used AM on my windows machine and had no issues. I even used an older copy (with CD) on my Mac without issue. But I'm having some difficulty installing the AM web subscription on my Mac. I was wondering if someone could help me out. So installing it directly under my admin account works just fine. Its installing it under one of my "user" accounts where I have issues. Although I went through multiple permutations of this formula, this is the last install I did. I installed under my admin account. I granted "read/write" access to the user account for that file folder on my HD. It runs fine under admin. But I want to run it under my user account (where I run everything else). Can someone give me any help regarding what I need to do? Is there some other folder that I need to grant read/write access to? Thanks, John

Sounds like that will solve it! Thank you!

Okay...an addendum to my previous question... The coordinates I manually type in (or when I drag) are typically either in relation to their present position (ie: offset by 5), rather than an objective coordinate (ie: [x,y,z]). When I manually do it, that works fine too, but I'm not getting to a single objective point (although the previous solution get's me to move them to a single point quite well). Let's say I have a buncha points that are (as JUST an example): [4.1, 5, 10], [4.2, 15, 15], [3.9, 30, 20], [3.8, 9, 15] Let's say I want all my X coordinates to be aligned on 4.0. How do I do that? Can I do that in batch? Sorry again. I'm sure there's an easy solution to this. I'm just missing it. I appreciate the help. My main focus on this is when I want to align everything on a single plane for a copy/flip/attach. But I'd also like to see my points aligned exactly where I want them to avoid bubbling in my mesh. Thanks, lafnjack

Thank you VERY much gentlemen. That was a big help. In retrospect, scaling makes perfect sense. I just kept envisioning scaling occuring in 2 to 3 planes simultaneously (so things would grow or shrink), rather than a single plane which would do EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you! It works like a charm...

Hi. I've got a rudimentary question. I'm making a head. Given that I don't have a steady hand, my CP's aren't aligned the way I like. So I've selected a spline, and used "," to select all CP's within that spline. Now what I'd like to do is have them all aligned in the same Z plane. I've modified Pivot Z, but that didn't seem to do anything. I've modified Translate, but that seems to move them all by whatever # I enter, so they're moving within relation to each other, rather than to a single objective coordinate. I suspect I can look at the Pivot coordinates of each and subtract them from one another (1 at a time) and then modify translate with the difference. But I was wondering if there was a batch solution. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

http://www.hash.com/ftp/pub/misc/brochure.pdf The file no longer exists at that location. Don't suppose someone could just email it to me? Sorry. I know it seems silly, but I really liked it, and removed it from my PC when I was making room on it for some video editing. Thanks! John

One of the things I always enjoyed looking at, to inspire me with AM, was the old PDF file that looked like a software box, that showed AM's possibilities and feature set. Although its VERY out of date, I miss it. Is there somewhere I can re-download that? I can't seem to find it, one the revamped site. Thanks! John

When I got my v14, the CD and Extras DVD were in the same clear case...the DVD was visible through the back of the case. Did you get some other kind of packaging, John? --- Yes I did with my v14 too. But realizing how things can disappear when the house get's cleaned, I put the CD part of it in a spindle built into my computer. I'll never lose the CD that way. Honestly, why I didn't do that with the DVD is beyond me. If it was one of the early releases of v14, it might not have been included. If that is the case, you should be able to contact Hash to get a copy sent to you. The Extras CD (from v13) is available here...I'm not sure if the DVD material is organized in a single location or not. --- That URL is perfectly fine. Thank you so much! John

Hello there, I cannot seem to find my Animation Master DVD that has the encyclopedia of reference material that came out with the last AM. Of course, I have the CD. 1) Is there an FTP site available to download a zip or somesuch of the DVD? 2) If not, is there a POC I can contact to purchase a replacement? 3) How can I find out when my AM subscription for the year expires? If its soon, I'll just purchase the upgrade (assuming it will still have the DVD?). Thanks so much! John Simons

SWEET! Thanks very much for the clarification! Addendum: Hmmm...I tried it. I highlighted a CP, and then hit 1-6 on the keyboard, but it did nothing to constrain the movement of the CP in 3d space. AHHH!!!! I have to keep the keys held DOWN as I move it! NOW I got it! YEA! THANKS! John

There was a previous thread on this, but I wasn't sure what version was discussed (I could have missed it). But is there a way during modeling, as I move a control point, to limit that movement (for example) ONLY to X? As I choose windows, it tends to allow movements in a plane, so I would be moving in X AND Y... But in many cases, I want to ONLY move a single vector at a time. Thanks much! John PS: The other post had mentioned using #'s 1-6 or so. I took that to mean using the various camera views, but this would still have the CP move in 2 coordinate systems (ie: X and Y, Y and Z, X and Z), yesno?

Thanks Caroline and Nimblepix for the quick answers! I'll try both methods out... Very much appreciated! And Caroline, thanks very much for actually making a quick demo of the method in action so I can see what it actually looks like. You folks rock! John

Wow...not only a great animation, but a truly original idea! John

I had a question. I'm looking to have a simple TV screen looking thing, and have the screen flash "Yes" and "No" about a second or so apart. I know an animated .Gif can do this, but I want it to continue in the background and loop. Is there a way to do that, or should I use a movie format and put that on there? Ideally, since its MOSTLY just those 2 screens, I'd like to keep the file small and easy for rendering purposes. Thanks guys! John
