I'll model Woot.

What's the time frame for this character Woot?

Anotherthing I liked is the colorcheme
That interface was used in version 10 but dropped for 11. Something to do with Mac. compatibility.

I thought Neno has blonde hair? I used to listen to him when he was at DC 101, and when he was here in LA in the early 90's.

Ok, all metal.

Awsome start!!!
The road should probably cut into the landscape a bit. And we'll have to have some kind of archway to bring that road into the lower courtyard but I think that is an amazing mockup!
What do you think of the number of towers? Do you think we need any more or maybe other lower structures on the back side of the fat central tower?
Yes, I was wondering about the road relationship with the castle. The drawing shows a terrace but I could merge the landscape, road and terrace at the top. I need also to know what parts will have prominence in the film so I can assign more detail to those and economize else where. What did you think of the scale in relationship the the green figures? At this point I don't think additional tower are necessary but we can add them later.
Also, your second image shows all metallic towers, I was thinking traditional build materials but embellished with elaborate metal trim and ornamentation.

Martin asked if I would model the Castle, if nobody has started one, I'll give it a go.

I received the CD yesterday and thought it was great. The use of the graph editor for animating was very informative. I look forward to the others in this series.

What with this and Hash's new tech video on cp weighting, there really isn't anything much else to know about intermediate bones and mesh deformation.
Yes there is, COGs. The last word for mesh deformation.

To reiterate what others have said, the camera work in Swash3mov. was very impressive.

Vertical siding..........in top view, draw a zigzag line or any cross section you need then extrude down- producing vertical siding.

Try www.jefflew.com animation tutorial DVD using AM or www.anzovin.com for CD tutorials-various subjects. Try locale book store or amazon.com for David Roger's Animation Master 2002 A Complete Guide.

Click on the hand bone in window or in the PWS then draw out a bone for each finger. Next click on a finger and draw out the 2nd finger joint, now click on the 2nd joint and draw out the third joint. This creates the correct hierarchy. Another method for setting the hierarchy is , in PWS, drag a bone onto another making the bone a child, the other a parent.

Attach the control points of the fingers to the finger bones. The fingers bones should be children of the hand bone. This is done in the modeling window while in bones mode.
Take a look at the Art of AM manual *Show Some Backbone* also, there is a video version at the Hash site.

http://www.hash.com/users/threechickens/index.htm You can down load these for rotoscope use. This is Darcy Brooker's site.
Cartoon Animation by Preston Blair has similar, realistic, trot, walk and gallop.
Horses in Motion by Eadweard Muybridge is a good source
The very best is Rhino House: The Animal Motion Show Vol 2 DVD www.rhinohouse.com, Expensive though

Link to tire wire frame. The tread is modeled, copy-paste-rotate. I use darktree and Enhance AM, which is my favorite. I also use AM's gradient and spherical combiners.
The whales were done in 8.5 and when I do some new images, I've recently remodeled the whale, I can use the *ignore fog* feature for the water models to achieve better murkiness.

Above link to some of my AM images. I try to do realistic and cartoonish work and find my attempts for both are easy to achieve in AM. Although I don't use other 3D software, I have seen enough images in 3D World mag. and around the web and know that work done in AM can be just as good as ones done in the various programs out there. On top of that, AM is regarded as being one the best animation programs in the market, regardless of price. As for needing to be rich to afford another program, my trailer set was sold a large animation company that uses one of the most expensive 3D software packages. I'm thankful AM was all I could afford, what a blessing.

The last two images convinced me to give multi-pass rendering a try!

Hair
in (2003-2004)
http://www.hash.com/am2004/Modeling/Hair/index.htm follow these instructions at link or capping and change real time hair to wire frame and lower the real time density also at link.

Tractor was done in 10.5 on a Dell Dimension 8300 with a P4 at 3 gHz and 1 gig of memory. Render settings are- Final, multi-pass off, shadow, reflections on everything else off. The three shadow casting lights are ray traced with rays cast set at 3.

Greg, I've got you beat. This image is 6144x4608 required 3.5 hours to render. I'm using three shadow casting lights.

Link to wire frame image. The three elements to the right are the tread and were copy/paste then rotated with the rotate axis moved to center of the tire.

Link to comparison of tires. The one on the left is a 500 patch model with an image bump texture map for the tread.
