  1. Thanks for all the comments!! Really appreciate it!
  2. Hey all, Just a little offering that I made over the weekend. Comments are welcome. Enjoy! -Nathan Glemboski
  3. Good observation on the water rodney. Thanks for the advice. Some blue in there would definitely bring it out. I messed with the reflection blend and filter for the first time with that material, so that could also have something to do with it. The hills are a displacement material, and then a color and bump material. The model used for the hills is pretty low patch count really. -Nathan
  4. Thanks for all the positive feed back! This is my second scene that I've actually put the work into to finish. I've messed with AM for a few years, but mostly haven't had time to complete many pictures. Yes, I didn't use a lot of displacement maps. The ger is the only place that I actually used any decals though. I really wanted to see what I could do with mostly materials, and was pleasantly surprised at what they could do with some experimenting. Everything but the grass blades was modelled. I used the hair plugin for that. Much easier and renders pretty fast. The stones were placed by hand in the river bed, but it didn't really end up that you could see many of them. Has anyone come up with a better way to scatter little stones? Again, thanks for the comments! Here's a wireframe of the scene. -Nathan
  5. Had some time over Christmas break so I thought I'd give shot at creating something. This is my second scene that I've tried to make in AM. Feel free to comment if you like. Nathan
  6. Here's a model of a tent which is used by the nomads of Outer Mongolia. It's called a ger, or some call it a yurt. I'm visiting my parents who are missionaires in Mongolia so I decided to take advantage of some reference shots. Am going to stick it in a much larger seen once I'm happy with it.
  7. I'm afraid there isn't any kind of meaning in particular to this picture. I just wanted to make something pleasing to the eye. So I guess it is just about entirely abstract. Except for the writing on the boat, which is my signiture, and then I stuck a + and then my girlfriends initials on a whim. Pretty much just a sappy detail. Glad you enjoyed it. That's the real point. Here's a wire frame. Not to complicated a model. Keeping the tendrils all separate and not touching was the only thing that took a little patience, but it wasn't to bad. Wish I could say that I modeled the clouds but it's just a painting I did. I'm not sure if that's a no-no in the 3d community to throw in in a background like that, but I sure as heck couldn't figure out how to model it. Would love to know if anyone has come up with a good cloud material by the way. Thanks for the posts. -Nathan
  8. Thanks for the link. Materials is something I could use a lot of practice in so being able to see that was really helpful.
  9. Hey, Just a little something that I've worked on on and off for a few weekends. Would love to hear comments. Sort of a newbie and would love any advice for future reference.
