  3. Janotor.mov [] JanitorB.mov E_2.wav Janotor Movie is how it should sound ( the original render using the full medley file) JanitorB is how it now sounds using the e2 wav file ( also attatched ) The E2 wav plays fine in QTpro and Itunes when used outside of AM. When I import it into the project using that option in the sound folder the sound is distorted beyond recognition. One thing I did just notice is that the e2 file does not show the wave form within AM in the Project Workspace (?) When you listen to Janitor B you can hear the file behjind the distortion but it is barely there. The action file is not quite the same in the JB render but thats something else altogether... Any help gratefully recieved, thank you. sincerely simon
  4. Don't do that unless you already have it. I don't' know that this will solve your problem, It would just be an easy experiment to try if you had it already. How big is the file? Rob Thank you for your efforts. I bought QT pro but it gave me a very frustrating afternoon.( I'm going to use the helpline tomorrow ) If I was paranoid, instead of inept, I might start to think everything was going wrong... Anyway, the file is only a couple of Mb. I'll post it tomorrow. Thank you
  5. Its on another computer in a different room but I will try to post it tomorrow ( UK here ). Thank you for your interest. simon
  6. Rob I installed the latest upgrade ( it install over the standard 15 and adds a folder for V16 documents ? ). Redited back to 2 min wav. wav file plays fine under QT on OSX but, when imported into AM it only buzzes rather than plays the file ? regards simon Ps Habiit of not keepin up with upgrades arose when I used an old PC running w98 to access the web. Nobody wrote virus's for w98 so it was secure. Now I use Macs but, old habits die hard !
  7. >> Go back to the original 2 min wav file that was working fine in A:M and cut up up again, only this time save the clips as Uncompressed wav files. If that doesn't work, use a different audio editor to cut it down. Here is a nice free editor: http://traverso-daw.org/ Thank you for the tips. I will try to follow through over the next few days. regards simon
  8. Is there a reason not to be using the latest update? Only ineptitude really. Its only recently that I got the wireless running on the Imac as I was trying to keep it away from the web for security reasons. Having set that up last week I remembered about the upgrades and got it today. I'll try to install tomorrow. Normally I just install the one version and keep that until the next subscription disc. I had a lot of trouble back with V9 I think it was but appreciate the changes since then. regards Simon
  9. Working on an Imac in OSX snow leopard in V15 ( the one off the installation disc ) I am having trouble with the sound in an action file. It was going OK until a few days ago and a glitch slipped in (?) . I was working with .wav files and was using one 2 mins long. Thinking it a bit large I split it down into smaller parts using Logic express. I tested the files outside Logic using QT and they worked perfectly. When imported into AM they wouldn't play and just gave a distorted noise. I tried the sound editing several times with the same effect. So I went back and converted them to MP3 but that was not accepted. So I have just converted them to aiff type files, only to find they are not accepted either... ? Could someone kindly explain what is acceptable and how I might go about working to that standard ? Please ask if this is unclear. Th`nk you in advance. regards simon
  10. Paul Thank you very much indeed for your reply and your efforts on my behalf. I ave DL'd the file and will try it tomorrow ( UK here ). Thanks a lot. regards simon
  11. Reminds me of an incident 'back in the day' when a young feller came to my house and took a guitar off the wall and started doing some Stevie Ray 'swingarounds' and proclaimed "I should be a guitar player player because I can really do some tricks with these things!"...and then -WHAMMO! the guitar lay in pieces on the floor... the kid never even considered that you need to do some things with the strings. For my sins I teach guitar to youngsters when I can. The attitude you report is not uncommon. I blame the "guitar hero" games for this generation but... When I was in school, many years ago, one of my contemporaries was notorious for playing in his bedroom with the curtains closed and his shadow on the curtains, but the sound being the record or tape turned up LOUD ! Ah schooldays ! cheers simon
  12. Detbear Thank you for your reply. As I mentioned to Paul, I think I'm going to have to use several setups. Of wshich yours will be one. Thank you regards simon
  13. Paul Thank you for your reply. I'm beginning to think that I may have to have several setups, of which yours will be one. Thank you. regards simon
  14. Elvis did that with a guitar? If he's going to hold it with two hands and not really try to strum it, I'd set both arms to IK and constrain the hands to the broom, then animate the broom into the poses you want. The hands will follow. Rob Thanks for the reply. I started to try that method and will refine it this afternoon. Thank you. Elvis did the bump and grind routines and they contrast with the otther ones... regards simon
  15. AND--- What are you throwing Harrison in there for? He just stood there and picked! The Beatles themselves were embarrassed by their total lack of showmanship... that's why their shows lasted a whopping 30 minutes. Harrison... because he just stood there with the guitar high up on the chest, playing terrific rifs ( daytripper ) and it was a contrast to all the othes ! simon
  16. I have a very simple stick figure in which I installed the skeletal rig from the cd. I asked a question a few weeks ago about constraints and carrying boxes. This is slightly different. My little figure is going to mime, air guitar style, while holding a broom. What would be the best constraints system to set up so he can swirl the broom around ' a playin a guitar?'. He needs to be able to swing it side to side, behind the his own neck, and side to side , like elvis ... Pete Townshend, Jimi, Jimmy Page, George Harrison... Thank you in advance regards simon
  17. are you sure 25 is set in the properties of the project? This is separate from the Options window. Rob Spot on in your assessment and solution. In all the earlier troubles it too had changed... regards simon
  18. Rob Thank you for your reply. I think so but I will check as well. regards simon
  19. I had a spot of bother recently with the defaults resetting . That seems to have cleared up thanks to the help I received here, however, I have noticed an anomoly and wondered if it was a common one or a fault of mine ? I am rendering a 30 seconds sequence as a series of still files.. It cut out on frame 234 which @25fps works out to 9 seconds 9 frames ( ?) I restarted at that point (00:09:09 ) but instead of resuming on frame 234 it started at 273... Has my maths gone wonky ( not unlikely ) or has the frame rate stayed at 30 in the choreo even though set to 25 in the options menu ? Puzzled simon
  20. Yes, that usually works in these types of situations. I have done that and will check tomorrow to see if it worked. Its a good job my hair is already grey... regards simon
  21. Before it quits on me ? No I hadn't, but I will now. thank you. simon
  22. As explained elsewhere, I'm using V15 on an Imac running Snow Leopard to revisit an old project for a competion. The original project was put together in V10 and, when complete, backed up onto CD's. They were originally done in 26fps because that is what I'm used to. And on a PC running Windows XP I have had a few problems with V15 ( using the one off the CD) occassionaly dropping out and it seems to revert to its factory defaults each time it does it. So, for example, I open it up to load the old project, having previously set the frame rate to 25fps. It imports the files but it imports them at 30fps, I reset the options under tools, save it and the project under a new name. When I went to render it dropped out. I reopened and carried on, only to have it default back to 30fps ( and some other settings too ). This is proving rather frustrating. Is there a way to nail the default valus and havethem stay as set ? I have never encountered this before in earlier vrsions of the program... Thanks in advance. regards simon
  23. Rob Spot on. It was operator error. I apologise for my mistake. regards simon
  24. Rob does it work on files rendered as stills too ? I tested it and it seeems to work fine on QT.mov files but it seems to produce just colour on a render as still operation?! regards simon
