Vampire
Vampire allows you to change the Diffuse Color and the Transparency of a material when seen in a mirror.
Just set the Opacity, Color and Tint percentage you want to have in the mirror, drop the material on your vampire and you are done.

I have to add that if you want other languages you may want to check the RealSpeak engine.
http://www.scansoft.com/realspeak/demo/
This engine is available in many languages, usually bundled with Dragon Naturally Speaking (windows only I think), Kurzweill (very expensive software, on the 4 digit spectrum of the wallet $1,000 bucks or more I think), etc, etc, etc.
And like I said in my previous post: If you buy a TTS with the purpose of using it in your project yuo may have to pay a fee for redistribution, don't know if it is for commercial use only but read that somewhere.

Thanks for the links, saga. That 'Voice Changer' at http://www.audio4fun.com/ looks appealing to me. I have a little freeware version of a 'text to audio' app but it sounds very robotic and even if one used a better app with better voices it seems like it would be hard to put any nuance and inflection into what you generated with it. i.e. emphasis on words, pitch, etc. On the other hand if you can do all that with your own voice and use the comp to make it sound like a different voice, well, that appeals to me as an easier solution. I don't know how good the implementation is, but for 99 bucks it might be worth a shot. Gonna try the free demo for now... I wish you guys would stop makin' me spend money on new apps
Tunesy,
There are hardware based options if you have a sound card that lets you do it. I have a Sound Blaster Live 5.1. It lets me change the pitch a little and has some effects you can apply to the audio. It only works by applying it to all the sounds you hear from your PC so the way I do it is like this:
1. Open an audio editing app, I use Audaticy (free) http://audacity.sf.net
2. Set the sound card settings, I use the mixer that comes with the SB live 5.1 drivers.
3. Select the Microphone as source for recording in both the mixer and in Audacity.
4. Start recording.
5. To hear what I just recorder I remove the sound effects on the mixer otherwise I hear an effect applyed on top of the previously recorded effect.
Is this good enough or easy to do?? It is not, but works if you are in a tight budget and don't mind the very few changes to the pitch of your voice you get.
So I would go with the VoiceChanger software. It seems to give good results and is not time consuming compared to my method.
By the way, and for every body reading, if you want to use Text-To-Speech on your projects you may have to pay a "fee" for redistribution of the voices like those that AT&T sells or NeoSpeech voices. Why? Because when you buy those you are only getting a license for one person, one computer, personal or educational use only. So be aware of that.
I think the voices that come with the mac or with windows you can use for free. I saw some videos here and there on the internet that used those voices and also on internet radio.
Have a good one.

I found this at www.versiontracker.com
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/20518
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15037
For PC there are more options. You can buy AT&T voices in german, french, american english, british english, etc.
http://www.nextup.com/attnv.html
There are voice changers for PC. So you can try using your own voice and chage it to fit your needs or change the recordings you made with other Text-To-Speech engines.
Have a good one.

I got Corel Draw 12, PhotoPaint is nice and has some improvements on the use of Brushes over Corel 10, don't know about 11, I skept it. A few things I've made with Photopaint on my Webpage
If you are a student you can get it for $65 at www.academicsuperstore.com. Though the academic license does not allow to sue it for profit.
I also used RealDraw Pro 3 from www.mediachance.com $55 bucks. Very easy to use and has some nice features like Mega Render, that renders any drawing you make in RealDraw Pro X-times bigger. And my favorite the Push-Back tool.
(the the picture with the 3 rings)
this program mixes vector drawing with photo editing, is very powerful. It can also export to Photoshop .psd format.
Have a nice day.

I have both ACID and MAGIX Music Creator Deluxe, they work great and are very easy to use (at least it is easy for me). ACID is the easiest to learn and pretty much all other programs work in a similar fashion. If you wold like to try other free multi-track music software this are a few of them:
iBeat
Jazz
Locator
Quartz Audio Master Freeware
Trionimox
If you can go to Borders or any other place where you can buy magazines, I bouth the one Called Computer Music, Special 08, April 2004. It comes with a CD that has music making software Free. This magazine also has reviews of professional software for making music and has very good articles in plain english. It has articles about how to start creating music, what you need to start and how to do it. Very, very nice. And best of all, it comes with tutorials for the programs in the CD. The program is called CM Studio (Full Version), very easy to use, simple. The same CD contains audio samples for you to play with and use in the songs you create.
Have a nice day.

For posting animation on the web and have the ability forward or rewind the animation as well as to do it with style and in any platform (Mac, Windows, Linux, etc) you can use flash video format. There is one program that can take most any video in AVI, QuickTime, MPEG and turn it into Falsh Video *.FLV. Its called SWISH VIDEO and its $39.95. It adds cool control buttons to the flash video and the resultinf FLV video is very small and has very good quality in case you don't have much bandwidth.
Its for windows only.
Have a nice day.

I second the motion. Where's my copy??

Wow!! It really is the same as using an array. "Flock" is a term I never considered for this but it makes a lot of sense. Thank you all.
-
I missed the point again... I have to improve my writing and pay more attention.
What I meant to ask is this: is it as easy to make an array of objects, lets say I want to create a 30 object array from a sphere, all with the same properties, bones, texture, actions, etc. with just a few or a couple of clicks???
In a CAD program you select the object, click on the array button, select how to arrange the objects (circle, spiral, square, double parallel circle, a cube, etc) and done.
Can this be done in a similar fashion with the current toolset already on A:M?? Or is there anything like a plugin or addon to do so??
Thanks again.
-
Please excume me if I sound a bit ignorant but is that something similar an array of objects with the same everything?? A:M has no options to do something like that?? I think I read something similar here somewhere.... Like making lots of books for shelves and lots of flowers or other sets of objects that are prety much the same but have different colors and or textures???
If it is not currently implmented will it be a feature in the next updates or is there some 3dr party app that can do that??
Thank you for your time and have a nice day.

I forgot:
It would be a good idea to post why is that you are interested in A:M, hobby, project, switching animation program, etc. That way you'll get a more accurate comment than mine because I use A:M as a hobby and not in a real project / work environment and I don't use all of its features.

It sure can Import 3ds and dxf not dwg. It can import other formats as well.
It has been my experience that it can import some dxf files properly some not. The dxf files, in my experience using turbocad 10 pro, is that they should be in format for version 12 or so. There are tools to convert dwg to dxf and dxf to the right dxf format for A:M to read it.
About 50% of the time I have to use other applications to import models from turbocad or autocad into A:M like Wings 3D to smooth out the imperfections that might appear in A:M usign either 3ds or dxf or obj or wvrml, etc. Depending on the formats youo are using you might have to use one or two converters plus some editing sometimes you have todo nothing and the models just work.
All I can say is that A:M is very good at animating but there is not much work on the importing. Exporting I have no need for but it exports pretty good dxfs that I can use in turbocad.
This thread is all about people that want plugins to import and or export.
http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6535
This one is a list of plugins and converters that already exist:

Hope this helps.
Hava nice day.

If your host is using Apache as the web server then you can use a ".htacces" file to restrict specific files or file types from being downloaded from other sites. People will be able to download the video only if they click on a link on your website.
and put only this three lines on it:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.yoursite.net [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://yoursite.net [NC]
RewriteRule .*\.(gif|jpg|png|zip|rar|doc|cdr|cpt|pdf|ace|iso|mp3|ogg|mov|avi)$ - [F]
Note that the last line has a list of file types to protect. You can add your own or just leave the ones that you want.
Have a good one.
