1. I've finished modeling the Large headed Spindly legged demon. He's all ready for rigging and texturing. I'll send him in an email to you martin let me know if you get it, thanks.

[EDIT] repositioned the knees a bit and updated the picture

  2. Have you submitted your other demon yet, Robert? Either send it to Rhett, me, or "commit" it to SVN.

I attatched it in a reply back on page 9 as a zip file. I'll send it to you too tho.

Oh, and happy halloween everybody :D

  3. The thing you have to remember when animating something like this is that the thing being balanced is what moves first. And the whatever is holding it up should move second trying to catch up to it. Like with Mark's example is good, but the chalk-like item should move secondary to the block. In that rendering it starts out moving "with" the block. Not after. Does that make sense? The base of the chalk should be following after where it is holding up the block.

  4. I was just going to suggest that - every sewing machine needs an oxygen tank - especially if it's run by magnetism.

Nancy you crack me up

perhaps the sewing machine needs an AGEP logo? like the Singer logo

I second that. I think that's a really good idea and I say go for it Agep!

Also, That's a really well done example of mechanical modeling. Something you definately excel at Stian. So I was hoping that if you had time would you post a wireframe. There's a lot of mechanical modeling that will need to be done for this project, and looking at the splinage of stuff like this can really be a useful reference for others (and myself) to attempt high quality models such as this one. Thanks Stian! Great work! -lazz

  5. hey, I'm interested in working on the "Fat, Thin-Headed Demon". is that cool? Do I just post here and be like "hey! i wanna do that one!" Or do I have to actually sign up somewhere? Thanks -lazz

EDIT: not to sound too eager, or anything to jump on board, but i drew a character sketch just cause I thought it up and wanted to sketch it before it was gone. Just my take on him. So i thought i'd share.

  6. Just keep modeling him!

    Thanks Rodney! I will :D

    he ain't much of a smile-type guy

    no kidding

I may look into getting a figurine to help as a reference. It's really helpful as you said to be able to actually look at it and turn it around and stuff. And it'd look cool on my computer desk too. I just might do that. Thanks Patrick!

So as far as updates go, here's what I've got. I've been workin off and on today but managed to finish the hands, add the shoulder pads, and I also flattened the chest a bit. I think it was a little overkill the way it was. Cool! Let me know what ya think. thanks! later- lazz

  7. Hey! Thanks everyone for commenting, you rock.

dude: I agree, so I played around with his head using the manipulator tool and I think I like it more now. And ya, does anyone know why he has those ear things? I never really got it either, but it looks kinda cool so I'm goin with it.

dborruso: Ya its all geometry. Here's a wire too to look at. I've been studying Colin Freeman's Demon from a while ago, and just looking at his work has really helped my understanding of splining.

Thanks Magnus! Nightcrawler is definately cool too. They portrayed him differently than I thought they would in the movie though.

Rodney: I know! I was surprised that I got the first go around at it. He's a somewhat popular character from what I thought too. Ya, I'll post a picture I'm using as a reference. The ear flaps are pretty big, but I still toned them down a notch or two.

Also, I've added arms. That, along with his head is what I've done so far. More to come -lazz

    And the reference photo:

  8. I've been meaning to make wolverine for a while now. He was and still is my favorite character from X-men. The version I'm doing is the one from the old X-men arcade series. Definately one of the best arcade games. Anyways, I started on him last night and this is where I am today. Comments and Crits are appreciated! Thanks! Later- Lazz
