  1. Thanks.

Yes, there is, and we'll be putting it on our site this week sometime (busy moving to a new server to handle all the traffic we've been getting).

Check it out at the end of the week at http://www.covenant-studios.com

The demos are going to be about 200 megs each (they need to be downloaded to play, and this is the first three levels).

    Greg,

Is the demo available yet? If so, where is it located?

    Thanks,

    Richard

  2. I like the characters, the dog moves are good, not perfect, but far better than I can do....

Thanks. The dog was a simple test of the rig, never done a quadraped before.

On the animation front, I just got Jeff Lew's DVD. Hopefully my animation will get better. B)

For anyone that hasn't gotten it yet, Lew's DVD is on sale now at Jeff Lew's website. And, if it's still available, you can get an extra 10% off by checking here.

With the 10% off, I got it with shipping for less than the $39.95 sale price.

  3. I use multipass and a shaking action to vibrate the cloud model. It's my method of getting that fluffy feeling for clouds.

Great work, love the look. :D

Really looking forward to seeing your completed short. :)

    Thanks,

    Richard

  4. You posted this hint some time ago, but I could find any replies to the hint, so I'm guessing the three billy goats (or whatever the story is called in english, original name was "de tre bukkene burse"). The troll in the story keeps saying "Fee fi fo fum" each time one of the billy goats crosses the bridge he lives under...

I would think more "Jack and the Beanstalk".

  5. Id been thinking of simple line drawings for a model and or a tooth pick one etc but your idea tops mall !!! flexable and textured...absolutly fabulous, hope you dont mind if I try out your idea on my own sometime?

    Michael,

Thanks. Go ahead and try it out. They are super simple to rig. Since it's a piece of wire with fuzz, you don't have to worry about creasing, etc.

  6. Nice, very realistic. It figures, sitting around trying to come up with inspiration... you come up with this great, simple, minimalist idea...

...BUT, you need to use HAIR!  ;)

So, are they as hard to straighten out as the real thing? That use to bug me in elementary school art class. My pipe cleaners always got knotted and never straightened out... then they lost their fuz.... just like me!  ;)

    Thanks all.

I've spent the last week or so modelling and rigging these in my spare time. The "people" are rigged with the 2001 rig and I used Mark's quadruped rig for the dog. Check my new avatar to see some of them in motion. :)

They all use hair, but, so far, they don't take too terribly long to render. B)

    I'm using A:M 11.1h, haven't upgraded to 12 yet.

I haven't tried to straighten them out, but I'm sure it would be just about as tough as the real thing. :D

  7. Is there any hope that someone will reply top my plea for help in dropping movie filesize.

I am a complete newbie at this and was hoping that someone would help me in advising on how I get the movie files down in byte size.

Sorry if I sound a bit taught but I did think that someone would help been as most seem to have solved this by the size of their movie files.

I have completed all tutorials but cannot put any more files up on my site and this forum only allows 1 MB.

This problem along with my re-installation problems have daunted me a little. I have never had problems with any of the software packages I use but AM seems to have given me a huge headache since I lost the ability to Keyframe and did a re-install.

    Bill  :(

    William,

If you are rendering the movies from A:M, when you set the movie type (avi or quicktime) click on SET beneath the type to set your compression. I have been using Sorenson 3 Quicktime (mov) for the exercises with the compression set to medium or low quality at a size of 320x240. The only one I had size problems with was the lip sync with sound. The settings dialog for the quicktime in A:M doesn't have a setting for the audio. Just try different compression types and quality settings. For video, it's always a tradeoff between quality and file size.

For stills, I load the tga files into Paintshop Pro then save out as jpg's which compresses them quite a bit for posting.

    Hope this helps,

    Richard

  8. Richard,

    Great job!

I do have two questions though.

    1) Certificate name = Richard A. Creel?

    2) Its something of a tradition of late to have everyone's Keekat from Exercise 1 on the certificate. I couldn't find yours. Do you want to post an image of Keekat from Exercise 1 or shall I pick one at random?

I think it's safe to say that you can probably drag and drop a model from the library to the Choreography window and add a pose to it. ;)

    Please advise.

    -Rodney

P.S. I think you get the award for "Most powerful spin on a bowling ball"! :)

Richard A. Creel is fine. I will post a Keekat image for you.

    Richard
