  1. the downtown one lacks in comparison with the other 2, why? cause the cars turn weird...make the tires turn or something and make the limo turning smoother.

Yeah, I knew something was off but I never thought of rotating the tires, for some reason.

I'm glad you like the stage character, AniMattor. I was originally making him for a claymation short a long while ago, but decided to convert him to 3d.

    Thanks for your comments!!

  2. well, I have done some experiments on this and came up with some results that might do the trick. I already send the files to Erik, but I'm posting here for if you guys want to see the result:

if someone wants to have the project file just let me know

That is the most beautiful example of water I've seen done on A:M yet.

  3. There is also a tab in the preferences (tool options?) for... links to folders. Can't open AM right now to check what it's called. It has directory links to your plug-ins, library etc. I just can't remember off hand what that darn tab is called. Just check through them until you see one that has paths listed for libraries and plugins.

    Think I found it.

I might have to re-install it, although I've done that once before and it hasn't seemed to have made a difference. I'm assuming none of my project files saved to my hard drive will be harmed by re-installing the program, will they?

  4. For now I'm stuck with the 2002 version of this software, and I need to make some text. It would be tedious to model each letter from scratch, not to mention challenging, so I hoped there was a text option somewhere. There isn't. I've heard about some Wizard Font plug-in that provides text, so I looked it up on Google, hoping it was freeware I could download....no luck.

    Can somebody help me out?

  5. Her cheecks and chin need to move along with her mouth. When her mouth opens, her chin would fall down slightly, and when her mouth closes it would go back up. If you look in a mirror and talk you can also notice your cheeks stretching and relaxing a little bit. It's especially noticeable since her cheeks are so puffed out in that certain position that they aren't moving. Anyway, that's my impression. Looks interesting.

edit: Sorry, I think that might have been redundant.

  6. That's just a truncated cone - or a bowl with a hole in the bottom, depending on how you look at it - with the surface properties tweaked to give a hint of metal-like reflectivity. You'd probably add a transparent cornea over it to give lights something to reflect off of.

    Ahhh, but of course!

There are lots of eyes in the A:M Extras CD, and you don't even have to get the CD; you can just download the stuff. ('sfree!) The complete project for every model is there - wireframe, rigging and all - so you can select the eyes and study how they're made.

    Really? Download where?

And you're welcome, Dhar. I've watched it at least a dozen times now. Every time I told myself this would be the last time watching a particular segment, my compulsive hand would click play again, over and over and over again. :D

  7. I'm sorry if there's already a helpful link or something that I've missed, but I've been studying eye anatomy to make realistic looking eyes, and I've noticed other 3d projects with usually simple irises but they're illuminated.....light fades around the edges. An example would be the character Tak. I just want to know how other people are doing it, maybe it'll save me a missed shortcut. I like the look of those eyes.

  8. I've just run into a problem when I saved a model file, opened it in a project and animated it. I need to show the project file to somebody and if I just send the .prj file then the model will be lost. As much as I could just also send them the model file, is there a way I can convert the hard disk file for it into a regular model/rigged and animated? I can copy/paste the modeled object into a new model window and that will only take care of the modeling. It wouldn't be rigged or animated.

    Hope this makes any sense.

  9. Yeah, I was planning on upgrading. ;) Been thinking about it. But for now I don't really need the volumetric effects, just the basic stuff. I'll get back to you about upgrading probably a couple months from now when it's the best time.

  10. I own the 2002 version of the software via school/student discount. Perhaps it had something to do with what I wrote in it. The title was 'Crashes', because my program keeps crashing when I try to click on a volumetric effect.

  11. I've tried to make a thread in the Newbies board 3 times, and every single time after about an hour or so it disappears, even on the list of posts in my profile, even though my post count doesn't go down. It's never been a problem for me posting in the Newbie's board before. The only time this happened before was the first post I made here, a thread in the Off-topic section that wouldn't show up the first time so I had to post it again, and it worked. This one won't work.

  12. One of the things I've seen around here is that apparently people can make games out of Animation: Master. Am I correct on this? If so, how does that work? What are the requirements? This is a totally new concept to me, making games from a personal 3d animation program. Sounds like something fun.

Another thing is making money. Just out of curiosity, how exactly do average A:M users go about selling their own animation? If that actually happens, often? I've heard there might be certain websites to do it. This is also a relatively new discovery.

I'd love for some clarification on these things.

  13. Thanks. This tutorial looks pretty good. I'll have to sink my teeth in it tomorrow though. My eyes are about to fall out of my sockets from staring at the computer screen so intently for hours.
