Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted April 3, 2023 Hash Fellow Share Posted April 3, 2023 Has just won six Olivier awards, the British version of a Tony Award. I presume one of them was "Fewest Mouthshapes" Quote The 1988 Japanese animated film My Neighbour Totoro is a modern classic, about two girls who move to the countryside and encounter troll-like spirits who draw them into a mystical realm, said Dominic Cavendish in The Daily Telegraph. This world-premiere stage version is already a “monster” box-office smash for the RSC; and it’s a pleasure to report that it fully lives up to the hype. If it is staged on Broadway and makes a splash, I bet it will probably get a national touring company. I have no prediction what the American appeal will be, however. I thought it was a proper name, but no... Quote What does Totoro mean in English? troll Totoro actually comes from Mei mispronouncing Tororu, which means troll in Japanese. This comes from a book Mei had read, which turns out to be the traditional Norwegian troll story Billy Goats Gruff, as can be seen in the end sequence which contains mother and that book. but the Totoro in the movie doesn't look much like a troll.
