pixelplucker Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Makers of FormZ, one of the best modelers out there has a free version that looks like it competes with Sketchup. http://www.formz.com/products/formzfree.html I haven't tried it yet but it looks like it can import obj files. What I have done is take AM models I have made and export out obj files with the triangle only options OFF and was able to subdivide them as sub d surfaces and convert them to nurbs. Not sure but might be able to do that with this. Seems to have a nice slicing plane tool that allows you to scroll through a model with a plane which is similar to what I use in the 3d printing software. Also might be handy to check the integrity of objects for those that are doing any 3d printing. I personally only fiddled a little with FormZ over the years and never dove in because of the hefty price tag and complexity but AutoDesSys has always been a rock solid company with outstanding products.
