pixelplucker
For some reason I can't seem to get the feet to stick to the ground when I move the body. Haven't set any constraints on the legs and body parts yet, just have the IK and Aim At on. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? brown_recluse.zip
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 6, 2011 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 6, 2011 Kinematic constraints should be just on the last bone in the chain, the one that touches the target. Here it is with the front two legs redone. You'll still need some other constraint strategy to manage the direction that all the middle segments try to go to, much like a knee on a biped, but this solves the kinematic problem. spiderrig_v2.prj
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 6, 2011 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 6, 2011 btw, there's a vid on "rigging a Pentaped" with TSM2 in my screencam links. The same principles would apply to an 8-legged creature.
HomeSlice
You should check out this video tut. It covers IK legs. The principle would be the same for spider legs. http://amfilms.hash.com/video/300/Building...irst-Rig-Part-
pixelplucker
Ahh, I think I had the IK going on the whole leg instead of just to the target. Does the TSM2 work on the rc1 64? I have those tuts bookmarked. Ever think of making a book on rigging etc?
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 6, 2011 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 6, 2011 Does the TSM2 work on the rc1 64? It works on the 32-bit version. You can have both installed. Just copy the master0.lic
pixelplucker
I have the cd version of 15.j. Is there a master0.lic? Anyways I got lazy and reinstalled 15.j and TSM2 and rigged it. I did have the other working but wasn't happy with my constraints and lacked patients to fiddle with it. Is it possible to put constraint sets into a library? Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 7, 2011 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 7, 2011 Is it possible to put constraint sets into a library? I suppose you could save a model that consists of just constraints and import that into another model. TSM2 isn't just constraints however. Its added bones and constraints. pixelplucker
I don't mind manually rigging if I have nothing better to do but it can be really time consuming and tedious. Having the TSM2 is a huge saver. Kind of wish something like that was built into AM. I could easily justify paying $100 for an auto rig plug for AM. Anyways here is the model rigged. Not by any means perfect but good enough for what I'm planning on. Finally got a breather from work and trying to get back into the swing of AM recluse_rigged.mdl

pixelplucker
I got the TSM2 working in 15.j, not the 64bit rc1. Possible to get TSM2 working inside rc1?

It works in 32-bit A:M, even v16. You can have both 64-bit and 32-bit installed. You won't miss those other 32 bits while you're rigging.
