LurkerAbove Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Or is there something about Sir Nigel? When I add Sir Nigel to a chor, the entire system slows, and I'm staying in wireframe. Perhaps its just me? Quote
LurkerAbove Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 Have you turned off hair? (Shift-8) Of course not! I'm a newbie. I'll try that! Thanks! Quote
Gorf Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Does the model have to have hair before you see a time benefit from turning hair off? (Apologies if that looks like "Dumb question of the day".) Quote
luckbat Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 If your model has no hair and no particle effects, then disabling hair/particles (they are one and the same) has no effect. Quote
LurkerAbove Posted August 18, 2006 Author Posted August 18, 2006 Well, I had no idea that Nigel was so hirsute! (hairy). That "fixed" it, since nothing was really broken, just some fault between the chair and the keyboard. Thanks again. Quote
luckbat Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I haven't played with Sir Nigel lately, but I suspect the slowdown is because his hair is quite dense. If for whatever reason you still want to see (or modify) his hair, try turning hair/particles back on and reducing the hair's Realtime Density / Subdivisions, which are properties of the hair material. When I get to the hair chapter, I'll play with that. As it is, I'm still working with my poor flower. But its good to know that I can now use Sir Nigel again, and its not his age that made him so slow. As it was, I was figuring that I was going to have to model a walker for him. Quote
