  1. wow, thanks john! it means a lot to me coming from someone like yourself, also thanks to everyone for their extra helpful comments. i have tried porcelain and it gives me weird artifacts with my 5-pointers and the topmost 4-pointer of the bottom lip. with porcelain it looks gret from the side but is looks like a whole bunch of unattached splines from the front as if it were made from polys (ugh!)

i think i might redo the entire cheek though. hmm, i´l ponder it over the holiday.

  2. Hi everyone, this is a model of my friend Jane that I’ve been working on for about a month. (on and off, most of the time smoothing) Any comments? I’m having trouble with the cheeks and some 5-point patches around the eyes. Any feedback that anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and happy holidays to all! :-)

  3. you´re right david, there are some cheek issues, which i´ve tried to fix but have failed to do so as of yet, i wasn´t actually planning on posting it today so i´ll go back and post the side, wire, etc views soon. thanks for the feedback!

  4. does anyone know how to make realistic long hair? i´m taking on my 1st realistic human character, my friend jane. she has really long hair and the method i´m using in v11t seems too tedious to be the best method. i´m styling hair cp by cp in grooming mode, help!!!!!!

  5. Ive tried Lightwave 3D 7 and Cinema4D XL 7(both of which are pro level 3D apps)

and althoguh LW really confused me, C4D seemed very user friendly (but its $1700 USD). Then i tried Blender3D, OpenFX 1.1, Anim8or and a host of other pieces of 3D soft. I got some models made and my skill progressed. Then i tired AM 2004. WOW i was totally amazed! AM easily beats the pants off of both (for my purposes) and it´ll run smooth as butter even on my 800MHZ celeron CPU! i´ve been usng it since late last summer and i´m already tackling my 1st photorealistic human.

check out my half finished site to see some of what i can do (ad keep in mind that others are way better modelers than me.)

  6. hey hashers!! i just posted my 1st site and while it´s not completely finished, i have some work done in 3D with A:M!!! I haven´t started texturing any models but the monster with tht horns is the 1st i´ll tackle. the skeleton is actually a recurring character in my drawings + 2d/3d art although don´t quite know just what it is. Anyway, any feedback would be great! email me at panchosimpson@yahoo.com!

    bye and kep on hashin´

    PS A:M TOTALLY rules!!!!!!

  8. i tried re-CFA ing my model and nothing, i tried using mirror mode on a

model from the hash library(tarzan) and nothing oh and paste mirrored

  11. no, my problem persists and for one i did contact the hash staff about

this around a month ago. the reason why i'm fast replying is b/c the link

to reply isn't working on our crappy school pcs. anyway, YES the button

was on, and while not a super genius, i did not mess with the tolerance

settings. this is mostly b/c i didn't know they existed before the problem

started! also b/c of this i reinstalled A:M and again it didn't work, this is

really starting to bug me but A:M is a great program o I'll put up with it

    for the time being.

  12. i bought a:m like 2 months ago and after the 1st month mirror mode died on me even on freshly copy/flip/attached models! i've checked the pivot and i've contacted the hash support staff but to no avail won't somebody please help a struggling 15 year old animator in distress?!?!

ps: i'm using v10.5r on the 2k4 cd on a celeron 800mhz pc w/ 320MB SDRAM, a SIS integrated 630E gpu w/64MB and winxp pro

    thanx in advance

    pancho

  13. :D wassup fellow hashers!! i found out about this cool little download that i thouht some of the more economically challenged of us might find interesting. a free compositing app, so if you cant buy after effects or combustion or INFERNO! (ha!) then look into jahshaka its out for irix, windows 98se to xp, linux(duh!) and mac os x. the download size varies (windows is under 6 megs) but its usually under 10 megs.

be warned though its in alpha stages so stability might be a little iffy but check out the features

    an editing module

    a painting moule

a 3d animation module (take that ae!)

    a desktop module

    a text module

and (drumroll......) a 2d AND 3D PARTICLE SYSTEM!

    plus DOF and fog

and everything is openGL accelerated (REALTIME or

    pseudo realtime but its fast!!!!!!

the interface looks a LOT like discreet combustion or inferno or that matter and seems to be very simple.

but it refuses to run on 2 win98 machines i tried it on, i dont have internet so i havent tried it on my winxp rig

ill tell you guys if it works on xp!

    heres the link

    http://www.jahshaka.com/downloads/downloads.html

from there just pick your poison

    and hash out!

  14. does anybody here use pinnacle commotion with animation master? it seems like a cool combination, like burgers and fries. sorry, anyway im thinking of buying commotion, is there anything i should know beforehand?
