What are the links to Jerry's movies? I want to watch them too, and say words like googliy moogily, and I can't work out how to get them
Hi Caroline, I have to apologize, I am at work and I tried to replace the originals with the updated files and was unable to upload from my work machine... so I ended up removing the originals without replacing them. I'll upload them asap....

Thanks for your "googily moogily" and other kind words I noticed after I submitted that shaggy's leg passes thru his forearm a couple of times.
Ooops... there's a lot to watch for when animating. I'll edit the post and upload the corrected files when I get home tonight.

Exercise Completed: #6: The Door's Stuck
Date Completed: Jan 15, 2007
Remarks: 2 versions: A) a 5 second sequence as requested (although the action is a little frantic... I guess he wants to get in very badly?) and a longer sequence for fun.
(cool... my "B-right paren" turned into a smiley... I think I'll leave him there...)

In the bouncing ball example there, if you don't change the interpolation to hold, when the ball reaches the ground, it will continue the spline line and actually go through the ground, before going up.
Thanks Caroline, I think the "slipping" I see as Rabbit rounds the corner is probably spin. As the path curves the foot is rotating slightly? I suppose I could compensate for that in the choreography but I don't think I'll bother for this exercise.
Thanks for the pointers re: interpolation. I actually did not know about that variable but I dealt with the problem of overshoot and drift by adding a couple of control points. This accidentally adds some "preparatory" action before big movements. I did the same thing to add acceleration and deceleration to the movements (add a control point to change the slope for part of an action).
BUT, now that I know about interpolation methods, shaggy will have an easier time NOT opening the door . Thanks again!

Exercise Completed: #5: Take a Walk
Date Completed: Jan 11, 2007
Instructor: none
Remarks: whew! I had this essentially complete a few days ago, but everytime I'd render I'd see something else that could be better... and I still see several things to fix... but, it's JUST ONE WALK CYCLE... and I must move on . Actually, more like a "strut" cycle. I still see a little lateral foot slippage as he rounds the corner... any tips on how to remedy this?
I don't know if I was s'posed to do this for exercise 5, but I had fun messing around with the channels to give a little spring to Rabbit's step and to adjust the timing of secondary actions... great and powerful stuff! For example, it was a terrific way to fine tune his gaze while looking through the camera view. Learned a lot.

Instructor: thanks to Caroline for tips on converting and compressing AVI files within A:M. Can this software do everything?

Hi Caroline, thanks your kind comment and for the response to my question. I've been rendering to AVI and then converting the files in Adobe Premiere to MOV. I generally prefer the AVI format for my stuff but I understand that MOV is the only format I can use to post. I tried out many codecs and I agree that Sorenson 3 is the best for filesize and quality. I'll try to render directly to MOV and compare. So, do I understand from your mention of 1mb that that is the single file limit? Thanks again,

Exercise Completed: #3: Move it
Date Completed: Jan 4, 2007
Instructor: none
Remarks: Here's a jpeg of the final pose (4 rabbits mimic the 4 poses on first page of exercise). In the foreground rabbit 5 mimics discobolos. He refused to remove his red sweater though... claimed he didn't have the body for it... literally.
I also have a question about file size. The next few submissions will be increasingly large movies (well between 1 and 2 mb). I compress the avi into movs trying to manage a tradeoff between size and quality. What is the limit for posting? The attachment form sez "max. single upload size: 8mb". Is that true?

Exercise Completed: #2: Chorus line
Date Completed: Jan 3, 2007
Instructor: none
Remarks: The spotlights were originally intended to mask the weirdness of "crazy legs" the CD Knight. I replaced him with the corrected version but left the moving spots. The lights seem a little frantic in the short loop but, hey, it's the CanCan...

Keekat (the one with the bad foot not the athletic one) says... "you gonna pay for that remark".
Yikes, good point... thanks for the warning... I ain't 'fraid of a kitty but I better watch what I say about "crazy legs" (the "other" knight)

Exercise Completed: #1: You're the Director
Date Completed: Jan 2, 2007
Instructor: none
Remarks: Like several of you I've been playing with A:M for a couple of years and I just ordered 2007 so I suppose it's now time to march through the exercises. I had to tame keekat's right foot but have since found out there is a corrected version of the guy. I hope I don't get points deducted for using a defective kitty
Exercise 7: Can You Say That

Name: Jeremiah M. Faries
Exercise Completed: #7: Can You Say That
Date Completed: Jan 18, 2007
Remarks: nothing fancy. Just tried to get the lip sinc and secondary movements to look as "natural" as a kartoon kat kan be. Also had some trouble rendering to quicktime and converting to quicktime in A:M. Had to resort to other software and the sound ended up kind of tinny.
