  1. I have been exporting the MDD file from CH back into hash and did not work.

So you been exporting the MDD file back into LW and then export it from ther back to hash?

Or did you also export the OBJ file of the mesh back into Hash?

can you be specific? I know that the MDD file is inserted thru choereography on the model.

I would love to get it to work in Hash.

  2. David Ikeda was person behind Chronosculpt (possibly in the engine part, maybe more) and from his own words, his departure from LW was a mutual seperation. This happened some time ago. You can find his current musings and his current solo project on his facebook page. He seems to be a very open and accessible programmer about his work and thoughts. I use Chronosculpt, as well and find it a wonderful, fun program for character animation and simulation/vertex cache correcting.

What is your workflow with Hash and Chronosculpt?

What is our luck that he could implement a plugin for Hash to use chronosculpt?

  3. I have done importing the MDD file to the Hash model before, but this time I crash and I think its because of the particles. But so far all I have been able to do is export model and action to OBJ file and the matching MDD file into another 3D program. It can export action to MDD, maya cache, Alembic, sequence OBJ file and Endomorph targets.

Not yet succesful in using this and then bring it back into Hash.

  4. I have grab the new LW upgrade with 2 free plugins, and of one that is a stand alone that works well with many other program. It could be use with Hash with the MDD and object file export. mainly do 2 big things, fix any animation quirks and poke thru on the fly and create new expression of facial animation to give it more organic touch flair on the fly.
$400 for a stand alone may be a bit too much for what it does. But I love it!

  5. In hash retoploogy I have to be right over on top to place the pt on the surface, while in Silo it does a pretty good job laying the pt on the surface from the side of the object much more accurately, and therefore less turning of the model, and less frustration. The only thing to be careful of is not to accidentally attach the mesh to the back side of the model mesh work. In surface snapping you lay it out like your mowing the lawn across the object. While in retoplogy mode you can draw with a pen all the lattices of the model and when you are finish hit the enter button, and all of the mesh appear. I wish there was an erase button for that thou. I have seen others use 3Dmax and have frustration in trying to click it or grab pts while retopolgy. So far Silo is fast and less headache. I have not try blender.

What I did is make a really fast and loose model, and and then use puzh it to make it fatter then import it to Silo and then use select loop and split loop around the detail area so I can lay it over a poser model, then use cloth fit over the existing model ( make sure all normal are correctly display) shrink it to fit.

Then bring it in back in silo and move all the detail pt to be right where you want them to be. Bring back into Hash for a final model.

Many of the model making program have the shell tool in converting all of the single layer mesh into a thicker front and back side of the same mesh. That shell tool is great for making clothes, Helmet, armor, shoe and so forth.

I would say from what I have seen, ZBrush is hand down the best at retopology, but I am on the budget. Blender might be the cheapest route.

I model the basic body in Sculptress, then export it to Silo2.3, and then retopologize with surface tool in Silo2.3 then import it into Hash Animation Master fix a few spline and add 5 pts patch for the body.

Then bring the model back into Silo2.3 to make the bikini top and bottom. using surface tool make the mesh and then create a shell of the mesh. then import it back into Hash AM.

  7. I am on Picarto.tv where I can livestream my work and show you how to use Silo2.3
Skype me anytime and I can go set it up for you.

Keep in mind that you would have to try follow Hash rules for modeling, avoid triangles and leave the 5 pts open to be filled in Hash. When you import it into Hash you can fix minor stuff. Hash imports OBJ file really well provided that you keep everything in Quad mesh work. You would also watch out for continuity of the spline and detach and re-attach can fix that.

  8. I rediscover Sculptriss, and I like it very much. If I do retopologize in Hash, I can bring the obj file into sculptriss and reduce polygon to 2,000 for one of the exported poser model, and then bring it in to Hash for surface snapping skinning. So much easier to skin a reduce polygon model.

One of the other thing I like to do is use the retopology tool in Silo3d and make a rough drawings of the lines, then start slicing up the polygon using select loop and split loop, then surface snap all the new point and then export to Hash to clean up.

Now to reverse this technique in making clothes, headress, and boots. Take the final mesh from hash and export it to Silo3d and start surface snapping to the new model the clothes and apparel accessory, and then export it to Hash again.

The way Silo extend skin during surface snapping to nearby mesh is so fast. That it is faster than anything I have seen.

So my new workflow now include Sculptriss and Silo2.3 for my main Hash Animation project.

  9. The big gears have 52 teeth. The chain is just a simple set of 2 flat mesh

I redid the hip and leg mesh many time, and keep working the smartskin so that when she bend her legs, it didn't look like she was packing a set of male testicle. The hair was imported from Poser 3D export and it came with the texture map still intact. Great import plugin programming. I was shooting for the platinum blonde color. The female is model off a pinup star that is often compared to Marilyn Monroe.

adding tire tread would rock...........on a road thin wheel there is no tread, but just on the side only. could add a little yellow tire pressure decal message. could also add a company logo on the bike.

  10. I started a new project of modeling my favorite bicycle. I could not stop, and I am half way there.

I just wanted a basic bike for myself, and then make a Black Op version of my recumbent bike for the zombie /end of the world survival road warrior bike.

I manage to get the basic bike patch count to 12,000 and I try to not get too detailed on it. I have not rig it yet! Took me a day and a half to get this far.

One of the thing I learn from this is to model the pieces in a separate model window, and then once you got it, copy and paste to the main model window. I test the bike with another character and it fits really well with real world scale character. She is 5'1" feet tall and the bike was built for 5'1" to 6'4" with telescoping boom on the front pedal.

  11. I'll work on something, but meanwhile I sign up with Picarto.com live stream where you can actually watch me do the work under the name Cyberdreamcreation and if you subscribe, an email will be sent every time I go online and activate my livestream. I would be happy to go over the whole shebang with you personally!

BTW are you related to Bruce Campbell? He is also from Detroit, Michigan and I am also from Michigan.

Messiah announce that they were going to sell to another company and offer a discount upgrade for whatever the next release from the new company. Nobody knows anything or saying anything of what that will be.

The MDD export also works well inside Lightwave. I still use AM because of the bone spring feature that seems to animate flesh bounce really well. Poser3D Bullet physic is not quite what I wanted, and touchy to work with. Messiah claims to be able to, but I still dont know the program well enough, but found my little method of just getting it to render out to be fruitful. I did have to purchase a additional plugin called FastMDD $40

  12. I use Messiah for importing AM model and then rendering it out with SSS like results. I got the MDD plugin called Dmorph. It has a very fast option to rigging any model and intelligently weight each limb for rigging. But so far nothing beats smart skin of AM, and bone spring dynamics for final rigging. Of those two features have kept me from moving on to other program.

I ask Wegg about Messiah and he said abandon it and is into another 3D program. For which I have already paid for the next upgrade deal. He said because it lack CAD support.

  13. I would love this! at present it is faster for me to export the MDD file and obj to another renderer and render it out rather than do a straight render from AM in SSS renders. Although this latest update fix the hot spot for the SSS renders. I have seen the Octane results from Poser3d and its very impressive as well as faster. I think quality is more important than speed. Pretty much my main reason to export the files and renderer it in Messiah3D.

  14. Didn't quite work like that with me. So I drag it to the bottom and reorder it like that. seems to make better sense to drag it in the middle of where you want it to be. Pretty much have to write it down where you want it to be and then start from the top on down. I might not be hitting it exactly at the top, but if you struggle like me, it's good to know that dragging it at the bottom works as well.

    Thanks for the tip Robcat!

Ooops, I tried it again and dragging to the top did work for me.

  15. I got a good deal buying my upgrade at the show and was looking forward to that, but I can wait next year, unless you will be the one in Seattle about 6 month later? The Emerald comic con?

This year comic con looks a bit weak from last year! It's hard to beat the cast from Grimm and Firefly!
