  1. Thanks everyone for the comments. I'll keep working at it, but at 40 hours, the render time is rather prohibitive of any quick results. Vern: I'm relatively pleased with the result, but to even be mentioned in the same sentence as the honorable prince, is a compliment beyond my capacity for rational thought. ~Danno
  2. Here's an evironment I've been working on... 40 hours to render. Any suggestions comments, criticisms appreciated. ~Danno
  3. Jon I agree... For the time being I was working on the lighting and getting the best render quality I could. But I've tried to incorporate a few of the suggestions. You can see my latest image below.
  4. Hello everyone, This is a currently environment study. The idea was to create a fairly simple image with simple shapes and textures, and then to attempt to light it as realisticly as possible. I know I've still got a lot left to do, but I would love to hear any comments/suggestions. ~Danno
  5. Great picture, That looks really sharp. I love the subtle lips. And you've avoided the "cold stare" that is so prominent in 3D character models. Just really nice. I would like to see more, perhaps a profile. I do agree with a previous post that the brow should probably be lowered, but then again, faces come in all sorts of shapes, that's to say, if you saw someone in real life with a brow like that you'd be like, "he's got a funny brow...." It's more aethstetic than anything. ~Dan
  6. Hello everyone, I haven't had the chance to update. Here's a full body view and a close up of the legs. ~Dan
  7. I forgot to mention the model isn't complete yet, he's got a basic bod, and some un-attached arms, but everything else needs to be built. I got hung up on the skin.
  8. Hello everyone, I decided to post my Goblin WIP. I'm generally pretty pleased with the head model (despite a few required touch-ups.) But I've been having trouble getting the skin texture to look just right. The skin was all done procedurally (save for one bump map.) Please let me know what you all think. And any suggestions or critizisms are welcome. I'd like to get the skin tone right. ~Danno
  9. Hey everyone. A couple of quick renders on the goblin. I updated the skin texture a bit. I don't care for the lighting in these shots that much, but I sort of just threw it together. (I realize this is more in the realm of WIP now. So I'll move there with any new updates.) Thanks for all the suggestions and critiques. I would love to give him hair, but my system can't quite handle it. All critiques welcome ~Dan
  10. Hello everyone. My first post here. I'm a 3D artist working in the midwestern US. I've developed a character that I'm intending to cast in a short film when I get the time. Please feel free to critique, rip, or flatout dislike, the image. I'd love to know what people think. ~Dan
