i like the artwork, but putting every image on one page in the graphic section seems like cruel and unusual punishment! how about some thumbnails? ' ' )

no luck finding a cache of that file. :/ aparently it contains three files:
arcticduo.inf
arcticsh.dll
arcticld.dll
... but i can't find the buggers anywhere else on my system, and i don't have the win2k chops to get a copy of the cab to send ya. sorry!

i have a 644k file in my windows system folder's downloaded programs folder called "arcticshell control". it says its codebase is http://www.arcticpigs.com/activex/mayhem.cab
i can try to wayback that cab file, and if i'm successful, i'll send it your way.

sorry, but it would appear that the short answer is 'no'. i don't see booleans listed in the 'full list of supported animation:master features'.

arctic pigs is hardly vaporware, but i certainly won't update a:m until a new version of arctic pigs gives me a reason to.
i agree that mac/netscape compatability is crucial, but give me the lag constraint and maybe the gradient shader, and i'll gladly hop back on the subscription bandwagon.

1) my guess it that its a display problem... try switching 3d modes. actually, if you can switch 3d modes, it's prolly not a display problem :( 2) the short answer is that you put javascript code to react when a user mouses over or clicks a named group. examples of this are on my site. -jon

sadly, almost of the entires i could submit would not meet a key requirement. ' ' )

i'm not sure why, but a creepy fish carrying an egg seems much more evil than a creepy fish with teeth. is this really a psychology test? <_>

will,
looking at the last few frames, the hooves seem a little flat and/or untextured. it's nothing an audience will see, but it stood out to me in an otherwise very believable model!

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer?
i've tried tech support, but they keep you on hold longer than dell!
seriously, i came up with quite a few good images with the following: http://images.google.com/images?q=human+anatomy
i'm not sure how to restrict the results to exterior only <_>

treasure planet was much better than i thought it'd be, and it did an excellent job of integrating 2d and 3d animation. i have to agree that it's fate had little to do with the quality of the film. it deserved better.

i find it hard to believe that 10.5 is 'way more stable' than 8.5p+, but i agree that it's a whole new world. as i've whined about recently, i'm only just starting to explore it, but the lure of guide splines for hair alone keeps pushing me onward.
reasons to wait:
1) don't switch versions in the middle of a project.... ever.
2) as it's been said, if you wait less than three more months, you'll get a whole extra year. one of the, ...um, features of a subscription model.

zpider seems to be in the know... check out this thread.
i'd be more worried about ap version 10.5 if i could figure out how to make 10.5 constraints work. this is even sadder since i have the (by all accounts) excellent 'secrets of a:m 2003' cd from anzovin studios sitting right in front of me.
what was the question again?

arctic pigs could easily duplicate this model's presentation, as well as providing additional interactive features, such as part labels when moused over, or animations of typical behavior.
i'm using a 700mhz machine, and some pretty good bandwidth, and the performance of the viewpoint plugin seems pretty bad, considering. i'd guess that the plugin is being overloaded with both a 3d model and several zoomable images.
what arcticpigs doesn't do is stream jpgs. i don't see this as a problem, however, as several progressive 100k jpegs below the 3d model would do just as well in helping field workers identify the bug.

arcticpigs is *far* superior to adobe atmosphere when it comes to interactive animations. with a:p, any group can be made to trigger any pose, and it directly supports almost anything you can do in an animation:master chor.
in addition to desperately wanting a 10.5 upgrade, it'd be nice if it supported macs.
(sigh)
-jon
ps: atmosphere is a group chat environment, but since i don't really like people, i don't see that as a benefit.

mooncaine,
um, as far as i can tell, even with your email address 'unhidden', its not visible. it just means forum users can use a form to send you an email message. if you can find mine, please let me know
your proposed solution works if the message comes from the forum, but i don't believe a private message will work for the authors of messages from the mail list.
regardless, i think will has whacked the problem (as always)

overall, she looks pretty good. i agree that the lips would look better fuller, but that's personal preference. they do currently seem a little... angular? not quite sure.
the big thing that distracts me is that the sides of her head are perfectly flat and vertical. kinda unorganic.
in spite of my nitpicking, a strong design!

will,
is there any possible way to get the originators email address somewhere in forum posting when they get translated from the list?
i was just complemented for stealing a quote from some dead greek guy in this thread, but i don't know who sent it.
i realize they should've signed it, but you've worked so many miracles, what's one more?

robert,
this certainly seems like an interesting idea, but what kind of look are you going for with these gods and demi-gods?
will these be pimply, itchy, photorealistic humans, or will they be idealized heroes in the flesh? please provide more information, as i just unsubscribed from the list, so i didn't get that attachment. (they're not kosher, anyway)
-jon

most excellent. thanks!
you've done a kick-ass job of meeting and exceeding every little dorky request any one of us could've come up with!

Look, is there anyway to just keep my hash list activity the way it was.
i don't think the list will ever be exactly as it was, since many people seem to be switching to the forum. as it stands, this means you'll receive no more or less emails -- only some will have a slightly different format.
if you wish to not receive any emails from messages that originate from the forum, there have been several helpful messages regarding rules-based filtering.
...but by doing so, you're sure to miss some interesting conversations.

i think the forum should be the dominant medium, and that the list should be supported as much as practical. i wouldn't want to simply ditch those who prefer email, but the organization of the forum is very helpful. i can easily ignore threads i'm not interested in.
overall, zpider is dead on with his suggestions.... and i (of course) like will's idea of a separate vendor announcement/discussion thread. however, the point that you can't gripe on an official forum isn't useful when trying to decide between the forum and the list.... you can't gripe there either.
is there a way for full names to be displayed under/near our forum login? that might make it easier for everyone (including me) to make the transition from list to forum.

(forum members: is my flash avatar too annoying? )

i really like the 'play' model you've created! is her hair cookie cut or particle based?
which version of a:m did you use to create these images? again, they all look great! (even though i never really got into bgc)
-jon

great work!
as far as the ear goes, it helps with the whole 'physical puppet' feel. i'm biased, however, as i've always just jammed on my ears.
if you don't get around to integrating it into your head, i'd move the tiny convergence point under the skin to hide it.

A:M User links pages

i am a little curious about the restless nature of the user links pages. ' ' )
is the order being tweaked by human hands, or is there a hit ranking or randomization process that keeps things interesting?
