  1. Its still cheap. Most important question is whether YOU are in a dedicated state for a longterm purpose of doing something with Any software other than checking it out or tinkering with it to see if YOU can do something? New features arent going to make you suddenly becaome better if you didnt master the old ones. New features are for those who need to push themselves for more. Its animation master which means as you master it you need more to progress

  2. I had same problem with v13. But its fixed - its simple
You need to go to update section and find the file 15.0j+ (See updated reply below)
Its the octopuss logo splash screen.
You may or may not need to do a clean uninstall/install ...

which may include deleting registry entries with the name HASH...if you encounter the splash screen loading but the program doesnt fully load/show up.

But install 13 first then the 15.0j+ file it should work.
If the above mentioned splash screen thing fails to fully load program then you will need to Uninstall program then go into regedit - right click start - choose Run - type in regedit
Under each of the headings -expand- HKEY_CURRENT_USER/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HKEY_USERS and look for heading - then expand and find HASH entries and delete them.
Also while under the heading at the bottom is also another subheading/heading called something like WOW32/WOW64 - which also MAY have HASH entries.

Then do an install 13 then 15.0j+ file

    ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/updates/windows/v15/

    -> its an AMCD file

  3. Double post - sorry..... But Important Information!

  4. Not sure if this is 100% correct, but, the black bone will show up flashing even if nothing is assigned to it - if you click nothing in particular. Sorta like, just letting you know its still there kinda thing. Or even like, you clicked nothing in particular so Ill give you the black bone as something - even though you clicked nothing in particular. Just an afterthought guess.

  5. Haven't modeled anything complex for a while, so been at this One for about 3 weeks now. Figuring at least another week, just slowly tinkering with it on a daily basis.

(I'm Not modeling a PS3 Version of the Rifle - Just using the PS3 Image as the basis for a finished Rifle)

    Rifle_2.jpg

    Rifle_1.jpg

    Rifle_3.jpg

Here's the "RotoScope" Image being Used - NOT A FINAL RENDER!

    Rifle_Roto.jpg

Here's the file of what I have so far (I'm on Version 14 Now) ->PS3_Rifle_14.prj

3/4 of the way there and still some holes that need filled.

So far Only ONE real trouble spot, where the handle goes into the body (5 point patch not rendering properly).

When finished: Not Seriously - just an Idea for use

I'm thinking of something along the lines of a first person shooter perspective type of animation (just like the games) - only animated, (with the feel of a game through "actions" on the Rifle).

A little ambitious, but could possibly work out to be an unusual project to keep in mind. If anyone has seen the movie "Doom" where they do the same thing in CG.

    I'm using A:M version 14

  6. Ok. We are all aware of how hard it is to make models that stand out as exemplary in any genre of technology. Just about everyone should be familiar with the "Hunter" model - I think created by Joe Williamson? By far the Most exquisite model ever created by any A:M user. However, that model has been almost abandoned by the creator? What gives is my point in question. A super talented creator of the Model left it laid waste to his own imagination and talent to time gone by. Forgotten to the history of any A:M Fame and Respected reputation of this software as abandoned. Don't get me wrong, I love A:M and am loyal for what is says it is: Simple and easy to use Animation/modeling software which has a Long and unique history and format(patches rather than polys). But moreover I am disappointed year after year from not seeing any truly unique presentations of what this software can do beyond that One particular model? Yes, there were a handful of Intriguing models of animation besides "Hunter". The "Hunter" model, however, was by far the most superbly documented Power of A:M - left abandoned? I have previously implored that this model be given to the A:M community. It would make a HUGE impact to any and ALL inspiring Modelers to be able to dissect and analyze such a magnificent structure of modeling "How To". However, it's dead? Wasted on some hard drive lost to a non ambitious future. I cant believe that I have to bring this to a point or rather to an OUTCRY of the community. I do believe that it has Hurt A:M significantly as far as possibilities due to a creators abandoned software use. It's my opinion that A:M should either BUY the rights tot he model and give to it's community or convince the creator to give it to the community. Face it, it is abandoned. The most intriguing and beautifully represented model of A:M - gone? A:M is a great software, however, the community has nothing "stellar" in which it brings to showcase it's True power of eye-candy. Sure, there have been some Very good works done with A:M. But nothing as Legendary as the "Hunter" model. It is by far A:M's most Influential example of the software franchise. But it's gone and forgotten and by all intents and purposes just a dust covered CD of the creator. At least A:M should contact the creator and ask Him to make it available even for a price to the A:M community. That's the least that should be done if not for free. I know I'm right on this topic. Everyone of A:M knows what I'm saying regarding that One particular model. It took absolute talent to create it - we can all agree on that. Something which obviously none of us have the talent to replicate. If we are honest we can all agree to that assumption. I do appreciate the efforts of "newbies" and more skilled modelers who make models to represent A:M, but face it... A:M NEEDS that model to propel it into the likes of competing software to propel stature beyond a community of so-so character models which have not done much for A:M and it's prestige. This is just an honest overview. I personally have seen very few models (character specific) that have in any way captured the awe inspiring possibilities as in the "Hunter" model. It's one thing to be "superb" and another to be well just so-so. I could go on and on knowing full well that there are heads shaking in agreement about this one particular model and it's influence and inspiration of what could be.

So it's my hope that we can get a movement to incite a response to this subject in drawing out A:M to consider this matter for us all. A petition and plead to give to A:M the chance to see what all of the community can do with the knowledge behind such a great work of art. Make a Noise about it with me. Cause to tell you the Truth - HUNTER is a dead marvel of craftsmanship which we can revive and propel A:M to new heights within the field of technology and animation. And with all do respect, these community examples are just hurting A:M's reputation. And "no" I could not fathom myself creating anything of such brilliance in modeling myself - and neither could the community. For years nothing has come to represent A:M in such a way of a "Look at what I can do" example. The "Hunter" model is what A:M can do in an awe inspiring way, and with serious stature to the rest of the digital animation/modeling software.

Help me bring this to light with responses to influencing A:M to bring this model to the forefront of A:M.

  7. If you want to fully understand the process of "How To Animate", watch the "Alison Kennedy" video demonstration on Hash videos page. You will fully understand how to animate with that tutorial.

Also if you watch the Jeff Lew instructional video DVD (maybe try YOUTUBE), the Final part of that DVD he does a full animation sequence which is by far the best available for AM.

  8. Fantastic work indeed! No one would argue.. So where is the COMMUNITY Model for download? Sharing should be the Focus for ALL A:M work - regardless. That is actually the slogan for the A:M Community - SHARING.

  9. From what I read(I could be wrong - but Im pretty sure): TSM2 will not work with newer versions of AM? I think it ends at like Version 11/12? Thats why its no longer continued because its not compatible with newer versions after these mentioned. But I have to say that Something better than TSM2 (for recent versions) is the "Barry ???" vids on rigging. They are the best alternative IMO.

  10. C-grid definately gave the best answers to this problem. And I just have to say that A:M and .3ds are not compatible as far as modelling goes. Props are O.K, but modelling, forget it. Takes forever to load something and modifications are just a disasterous mess to cleanup on. A:M is good with .obj files though, but .3ds is not worth it? At least from what Ive tried. Just trying to save you the troubles of experimenting with this format.

  11. Sometimes 5-points can be stubborn to activate the button? Sometimes. When they are, I personally do it manually like this: Hold down the Shift key(pc) and select both sides of EACH of the splines, that makes up a 5-point. Go clockwise/Counter clockwise, or in a random order, clicking EACH SECTION of spline that intersects into the control points within a 5-point. Its just one of those things that occurs, especially when you have two 5-point patches right next to each other.

  12. Took me a while to understand these. Probably harder to explain. But, these affect how many bones are keyed at any given point when animating (most notable: is the additions of scaling/rotations/translations). Key bone = will put a key for any manually manipulated "single" bone. Whatever bone you move will be keyed on the graph edit/timeline and just that/them particular bone(s). Key Branch = will put keyframes for any bone that is affected by part a "chain" of bones and only that chain of bones will be given keyed frames at any given point. It has to do with the kinematics thing. [move the hand and the arm/elbow/wrist follows or move the shoulder and the rest of the arm follows]. IT will put keyframes for anything thats part of that chain and moves along with it ...or is affected by it. Like moving the foot and the rest of the leg follows. All the bones of that leg (branch) chain will be keyed (at any specif point in time of course). Key model = puts keyframes of all bones of a model at any given point in time. Everything will be keyed or given a keyframe at that point in the graph edit/time line wether you actually did/didnt do anything to any specific bone.

THey are basically 3 choices of how many keyframes you wanna deal with or actually need keyed at any point in time into the graph edit./timeline as you animate or make poses at any given point in time. Gives you control of what YOU want to see in the graph edit/timeline.

These are really helpful when copy/pasting.
